Five Players Signed To New Toronto Team

You might have heard today, but the NWHL is expanding and getting a new team! The new home will be in Toronto.

 

Also announced with the new team is how the private ownership and the front office structure breaks down.

 

But the biggest news in the announcement today is that there are five players signed with the new Toronto team!

The Players are Taylor Woods, Kristen Barbara, Elaine Chuli, Emma Greco, and Shiann Darkangelo.

Lets take a brief moment and meet the players:

Taylor Woods:

Taylor Woods is a forward from Morden, Manitoba. She played 4 years of college hockey at Cornell University. After college she would play in the CWHL Brampton Thunder, which was later renamed the Markham Thunder, and was a member of the 2017 Clarkson Cup winning team.

Kristen Barbara:

Kristen Barbara is a defender from Mount Hope, Ontario. She played 5 years a York University. She also played in the CWHL following college hockey, for the Brampton Thunder, renamed Markham Thunder. Was a member of the 2017 Clarkson Cup winning team.

Elaine Chuli:

Elaine Chuli is a goaltender from Waterford, Ontario. She played 4 years of college hockey at the University of Connecticut. After her 4 years of college hockey, she would play for the CWHL. She spent 1 season with Vanke Rays, and the following season, she would play for the Toronto Furies.

Emma Greco:

Emma Greco is a defender from Burlington, Ontario. She played 4 years of college hockey at Quinnipiac University. If the name sounds familiar, she did play 1 season with the Connecticut Whale after college. After her 1 year in the NWHL, she played for the Toronto Furies in the CWHL.

Shiann Darkangelo:

Shiann Darkangelo is a forward from Royal Oak, Michigan. She played 4 years of college hockey, 2 years at Syracuse University, and her other 2 years at Quinnipiac University. Another name that should be familiar with NWHL fans, she played 1 year with the Connecticut Whale, and the following season with the Buffalo Beauts. She would then play for the CWHL for the Kunlun Red Star for 1 season, and the following season, would play for the Toronto Furies.
