Back in July we featured the 1996 West All Star jersey, and we discussed about how it was a hard find. Today we get to finally discuss the counterpart to the West as we finally get to look at the 1996 East All Star jersey here on the TXHT Jersey Share series.
I still stand by my comments in my previous article regarding All Star jerseys and state that the jerseys that were used from 1994 to 1997 are the best EVER in the history of the NHL. The overall design is beautiful, and the fact that they utilized a style that was unique enough that Dallas would use it for their jerseys, that tells you that these jerseys were special.
Also previously I stated that I would have both jerseys customized to Wayne Gretzky (West) and Peter Bondra (East) respectively. Well good news! the kits for both Gretzky and Bondra have arrived, as well as the 1996 All Star game patches, but we are still looking for 5 1/8 inch patches of the Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals logos from 1996 to match the look of what they wore in Boston for the All Star Game. Getting closer to making it to a reality though.
