New Jersey Devils (28-29-12 68pts) vs Pittsburgh Penguins (40-26-6 86pts)

Game Recap:

After defeating two of the leagues best teams recently, the New Jersey Devils are hoping to take down another one in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh would get on the board first as trade deadline acquisition Evan Rodrigues added his sixth goal of the season. Nikita Gusev did tie the game on the power play scoring his thirteenth goal of the year. After the first period, the score would be tied 1-1.

Period two saw the Penguins regain the lead as Justin Schultz rifled a shot that beat goalie MacKenzie Blackwood glove side high. Schultz’s goal would be his third of the season and only one of the period as the Penguins lead the Devils 2-1.

Evgeni Malkin would take over the third period as he scored twice to put him at twenty five goals on the season. Kris Letang would add an empty net goal as well. New Jersey did score one more goal as Miles Wood added his eleventh of the season but obviously it wouldn’t help much as the Devils fall to the Penguins 5-2. New Jersey is back in action on Thursday night as they welcome in the Carolina hurricanes to the Garden State.
