New Jersey Devils (22-27-10 54pts) @ St. Louis Blues (33-17-10 76pts)
Good evening Devils fans! Your New Jersey Devils head out for one game on the road against the defending Stanley Cup champions in the St. Louis Blues. New Jersey is coming off a comeback win this past Sunday night as they defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shootout 4-3. Just like their most recent game, goaltending is what kept this game from being a total disaster for New Jersey. Louis Domingue kept the first period scoreless as did his counterpart Jordan Binnington of the Blues.
Finally, Ivan Barbashev got the scoring going as he scored his eighth goal of the season as he swept the loose puck into the back of the net. Barbashev’s goal was the only one of the period as the Blues would take a 1-0 lead into the third period. Louis Domingue played fantastic for the Devils but unfortunately they weren’t able to get their offense going.
St. Louis put this game away for good in the third period as Ivan Barbashev would score his second goal of the night and Jayden Schwartz would add his nineteenth goal of the season. Unfortunately for the Devils, they just could not get anything going offensively. They had a four minute power play as Blues forward Robert Thomas was called for a double minor for high sticking Devils player Nick Merkely. Jordan Binnington was excellent tonight in goal for the Blues as he had to only make seventeen saves in his shutout victory. New Jersey would lose by a final score of 3-0. The Devils are back in action on Thursday night as they return home to host the San Jose Sharks.
