Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Month for the Month of January.
First Star – Alex Ovchkin (LW, Washington Capitals)
- Ovechkin lead the League in goals with 13 in ten games played as he surpassed four Hall of Famers on the all-time goals list in January. Ovechkin would highlight the month with three consecutive multi-goal games, including back to back hat tricks.
Second Star – Leon Draisaitl (C, Edmonton Oilers)
- Draisaitl paced the League with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in nine games played for the Oilers. Draisaitl would play with a 1.89 points per game average in his nine games.
Third Star – Andrei Vasilevskiy (G, Tampa Bay Lightning)
- Vasilevskiy lead the League with nine victories in 10 games for the Lightning. He would also record a 1.58 goals against average with a .948 save percentage, and two shutouts.
