Game Recaps:

Boston Bruins v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 1230p EST Start Time

In Pittsburgh the Penguins would takeon the Boston Bruins for an early afternoon matinee. In the first period Patrice Bergeron, Anders Bjork, and David Pastrnak would score to give the Bruins the 3-0 lead, but the Penguins would get four answered goals from Dominik Simon, Teddy Blueger, Jack Johnson, and Bryan Rust to give the Penguins the 4-3 victory.

 

New York Islanders v. Carolina Hurricanes – 5p EST Start Time

In Carolina the Hurricanes would celebrate the return of Justin Williams as they take on the New York Islanders. In the first period Andrei Svechnikov would strike first for Carolina to take the 1-0 lead, however, in the second period Anders Lee would score to tie the game at one and send the game to overtime. After a scoreless overtime frame, the game would require an eight round shootout, and it would be Williams striking for the Hurricanes to secure the 2-1 victory.

 

Winnipeg Jets v. Chicago Blackhawks – 7p EST Start Time

In Chicago the Blackhawks would host the Winnipeg Jets in a game that would see Patrick Kane become the tenth American to record 1000 NHL points. In the first period Alexander Nylander and Erik Gustafsson would score to give Chicago the 2-0 lead. In the second period Mark Scheifele would score for the Jets to cut their deficit to one. Then in the third period Patrik Laine would score for the Jets, but goals from David Kampf, Brandon Saad (with an assist by Kane), and Dominik Kubalik would score to take the 5-2 victory.

 

Columbus Blue Jackets v. New York Rangers – 7p EST Start Time

At Madison Square Garden the New York Rangers would host the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the first period the Rangers would get on the board first with a Brady Skjei goal, but after a scoreless second period the Jackets would get a pair of goals from Oliver Bjorkstrand to give Columbus the 2-1 victory.
