NHL News and Notes from Friday, January 10th, 2020
- The Boston Pride have signed forward Jordan Juron for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Juron played this past weekend on a PTO for the Pride.
- The Buffalo Beauts have signed defender Sarah Casorso to a PTO and will play in both games for the Beauts this weekend.
- Also in PTO signing news, the Connecticut Whales have signed defenders Brinna Dochniak and Laurel Hill to PTOs for this weekend.
Ottawa Senators v. Detroit Red Wings – 730p EST Start Time
In Detroit the Ottawa Senators would come to town to face off with the Red Wings. In the first period the Wings would strike first with a Tyler Bertuzzi tally for the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Dylan Larkin would score on the powerplay for the Wings to take the two goal lead, but goals from Brady Tkachuk and Colin White (PPG) to tie the game at two for the Senators. After a scoreless third period and overtime, the Red Wings would need the shoot out to win as Dylan Larkin would strike to give the Wings the 3-2 victory.
Arizona Coyotes v. Carolina Hurricanes – 730p EST Start Time
In Carolina the Hurricanes would face the Arizona Coyotes, and in the first forty minutes it would be all Carolina. In the first period Warren Foegele would score to take the 1-0 lead, then in the second period Linus Wallmark and Martin Necas would score to grow the Hurricanes lead to three heading into the second intermission. In the third period the Hurricanes would hold the Coyotes off the board to secure the 3-0 victory.
Pittsburgh Penguins v. Colorado Avalanche – 9p EST Start Time
In Colorado the Avalanche would host the Pittsburgh Penguins. In the first period while on the powerplay the Avalanche would strike first with a Nathan MacKinnon tally. Then in the second period Teddy Blueger would tie the game at one, but Gabriel Landeskog would score to retake the lead to end the period. Then in the third period the Penguins would tie it back up at two as Bryan Rust would score his 18th of the season, and then Evgeni Malkin would score to give the Penguins the 3-2 lead, but Matt Calvert would strike in the final minute of regulation to tie the game at three and send it to overtime. In overtime Jared McCann would score his 11th of the season to give the Penguins the 4-3 victory.
