Game Recap:
In the second game of their back to back the Washington Capitals head to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes, and in the first period the Capitals would open up the game with penalty woes as they would give the Hurricanes the two man advantage right away. For the Hurricanes they would not be able to execute on the first penalty of the 5 on 3, but with powerplay time still remaining Linus Wallmark would net his eighth of the season to take the 1-0 lead.
Then in the second period Warren Foegele would score eight seconds into the period to grow their lead to two. Shortly after Nic Dowd would score to get the Capitals on the board, but Dougie Hamilton would strike to take back the two goal lead for the Hurricanes. The Capitals would get a pair of powerplay opportunities which on the first one Alex Ovechkin would strike for his 24th of the season, but on the second one Warren Foegele would score while shorthanded to tally his second of the game for the Hurricanes.
Then in the third period the Capitals would get another powerplay opportunity, and Evgeny Kuznetsov would strike to bring the Capitals back within one, but Martin Necas would strike to regain the two goal lead. Then late in the period Andrei Svechnikov would net the empty netter to give the Hurricanes the 6-3 lead. Radko Gudas would strike for the Capitals, but they would fall 6-4.
