Today in the NWHL there were two more free agent signings announced as teams continue to get ready for the 2019-20 campaign.
First the Minnesota Whitecaps announced that they have signed longtime China Women’s National Team captain Yu Baiwei to a one year deal.
Baiwei, 31, is the highest scoring defender in the history of the Chinese National Team, and has competed in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, which saw her be one of three defenders to earn a point for China, and has played in a dozen IIHF Women’s World Championship tournaments. Baiwei has also spent the last two season in the CWHL most recently playing for the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays. This will Baiwei’s rookie season in the NWHL and with the Whitecaps.
Next up the Metropolitan Riveters re-signed veteran defender Kirra Dosdall to a one year deal.
Dosdall, entering her fifth season with the Riveters, is second in points among defenders in franchise history, and is tied with Boston Pride forward Jillian Dempsey for the league lead in all-time games played. Dosdall joins teammate Madison Packer as one of eight players to return for their fifth season in the NWHL.
All players will partake in the 50 percent cut of revenue from league sponsorship and media deals. Plus they will also receive 15 percent of revenue from apparel sold with their name on it.
Also today the Twitch Broadcast Teams were announced for all five teams.
