In the NHL last night, there were nine contests.
- Gabriel Landeskog and the Colorado Avalanche would end the New Jersey Devils four game unbeaten streak with a 5-3 victory. Landeskog would net his third career hat trick in his NHL career. Nathan MacKinnon would also register three assists in the contest to extend his season-opening point streak to seven contests (seven goals and four assists).

- Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers went on to defeat the Boston Bruins 3-2 in overtime. McDavid leads the team with 11 points throgh five games and becomes the third player in team history to record at least 11 points in the team’s first five games.

Since McDavid entered the league in the 2015-16 season, he has 176 career assists, one behind Erik Karlsson. McDavid owns a career avergage of 0.82 assists per game and is tied with Sidney Crosby for the highest average in such a feat among active players with at least ten games played.

- Matthew Barzal scored twice and was one of six New York Islanders players to score as they took down the Los Angeles Kings 7-2. Barzal has 92 points in his career through 90 games playes and is only one of six players to have at least one point per game during their first 90 career games.

- Logan Couture and the San Jose Sharks went on to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 5-1. Couture recorded his third career hat trick, and the 59th in Sharks history.With this win, the Sharks have recorded five goals for the second time in the last four games.
Through 98 games played thus far this season, there have been nine hat tricks, one more than last season at the same point. There were 81 hat tricks recorded last season.
