News

  • The NHL announced the Three Stars of the Week.
    • The First Star was awarded to Montréal Canadiens G Jakub Dobes.
      • Dobes went 3-0-0 on the week with a 1.33 GAA and .962 save percentage
    • The Second Star was awarded to Boson Bruins C Pavel Zacha.
      • Zacha in four games scored five goals and had three assists.
    • The Third Star went to Anaheim Ducks D John Carlson.
      • In three games played, Carlson had seven assists.

  • The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that Brad Treliving has been relieved of his duties as General Manager.

  • In the PWHL, Boston Fleet G Aerin Frankel was announced as the Player of the Week.
    • In two games played, Frankel recorded two shutout victories.  In addition, Frankel has not allowed a goal in over 191 minutes of ice time.

  • Additionally in the PWHL, the following trade was announced between the Minnesota Frost and New York Sirens.
    • The Minnesota Frost acquired D Jincy Roese and going to the New York Sirens is F Denisa K?ížová.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Pittsburgh Penguins v. New York Islanders – 7p ET

  • In Long Island, the Islanders welcomed the Penguins and after a scoreless first period Andres Lee scored a power play goal, his 17th goal of the year, as the Islanders took the 1-0 lead and then Mathew Barzal netted his 19th of the year to make it a 2-0 New York lead.  Then, Elmer Soderblom netted his fourth as Pittsburgh got on the board but then Brayden Schenn scored his 16th to put the Isles back up two.  Pittsburgh then got within a goal when Rickard Rakell scored his 18th with a shorthanded goal and then Ryan Shea’s fifth of the year tied the game.  Anthony Mantha netted a pair of goals to put Pittsburgh up 5-3.  In the third, Avery Hayes scored his third of the year to put the Pens up 6-3 and then Rickard Rakell netted his second of the night as Pittsburgh took the 7-3 lead.  Then, Bryan Rust scored his 27th of the year as the Penguins scored seven unanswered goals to breeze by the Islanders for the 8-3 win.

Calgary Flames v. Colorado Avalanche – 830p ET

  • In Denver, the Avalanche hosted the Flames and in the first Jack Drury netted his 10th to put Colorado up 1-0 and then Nazem Kadri scored a pair of power play goals as the Avs went up 3-0.  Then, Gabriel Landeskog netted his 11th to put Colorado up 4-0 and then Parker Kelly netted his to give the Avs the commanding 5-0 lead.  In the second, Calgary got on the board when Brennan Othmann scored his second of the year but then Nathan MacKinnon scored his 49th goal on the year to give Colorado the five goal lead back with a power play goal.  In the third, the Avs lead grew to six with Martin Necas 35th of the year and then Sam Malinski scored his fifth as Colorado went up 8-1.  Ryan Strome then scored his seventh of the year as Calgary cut the lead to six but then Artturi Lehkonen scored his 20th of the year as the Avalanche buried the Flames 9-2.
