News

  • The NHL announced that they have named Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson First Star of the Week.
    • Roman Josi (NAS) and Karel Vejmelka (UTH) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.

  • The San Jose Sharks and the Vancouver Canucks would make a trade.
    • The Sharks acquired forward Kiefer Sherwood.
    • The Canucks acquired defenseman Cole Clayton, a 2026 2nd Rd Pick, and a 2027  2nd Rd Pick.

  • The PWHL named Boston Fleet goaltender Aerin Frankel Player of the Week.

  • Also in the PWHL, they announced that they have suspended New York Sirens forward Taylor Girard.
    • Girard was suspended 4 games for leaving the bench to join an altercation on the ice at the conclusion of the Sirens’ game against the Montreal Victoire in Washington DC on Sunday.
    • Per Rule 72.10 of the PWHL Rulebook, the first player to leave the players’ bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both Teams shall be suspended automatically for the next four (4) regular season games.
    • Girard will be permitted to resume play on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Buffalo Sabres v. Carolina Hurricanes – 130p ET

  • In Carolina, the Sabres and Hurricanes faced off in their final match-up of the season and in the first, Buffalo took the 1-0 lead with Rasmus Dahlin’s seventh of the year but then Carolina tied the game when Andrei Svechnikov scored his 17th of the year to make it a 1-1 game.  Following a scoreless second, Seth Jarvis’ power play goal, his 22nd goal of the year, gave the Hurricanes the 2-1 win over the Sabres.

Washington Capitals v. Colorado Avalanche – 4p ET

  • In Colorado, the Avalanche welcomed the Capitals back to Mile High City and in the first Parker Kelly scored his ninth as Colorado took the 1-0 lead but then Washington got on the board with Jakob Chychrun’s power play goal, his 18th goal of the year.  In the second, Colorado re-took the lead with a power play goal from Nathan MacKinnon, his 37th goal of the year, and then Victor Olofsson got his ninth of the year as the Avs took the 3-1 lead.  Then, Ethen Frank netted his 11th of the year as the Capitals came within a goal.  In the third, Artturi Lehkonen’s 16th of the year to put Colorado up 4-2 and then Nathan MacKinnon scored his second of the game as the Avalanche downed the Capitals 5-2.

Pittsburgh Penguins v. Seattle Kraken – 5p ET

  • In the Emerald City, the Kraken welcomed the Penguins back to Seattle and in the first Pittsburgh took the 1-0 lead when Parker Wotherspoon scored his third of the year and then Connor Dewar’s shorthanded goal, his 10th goal of the year, to put the Penguins up 2-0.  Then, Seattle got on the board as Ben Meyers scored his fifth of the year.  In the second, Ryan Lindgren’s second of the year to tie the game for Seattle but then Brett Kulak scored his first as Pittsburgh re-took the lead.  In the third, Justin Brazeau’s 14th put the Pens up two but then Eeli Tolvanen’s power play goal, his 10th goal of the year, put Seattle back within a goal.  Then, Rickard Rakell scored his eighth as Pittsburgh went back up two and then Connor Dewar scored an empty net goal, his second goal of the game, as the Penguins defeated the Kraken 6-3.

San Jose Sharks v. Florida Panthers – 6p ET

  • In South Florida, the Panthers welcomed the Sharks and after a scoreless first, San Jose took the 1-0 lead when Will Smith scored his 14th and then Vincent Desharnais scored his first goal since the 2023-24 season to give the Sharks the 2-0 lead.  Then, San Jose took the 3-0 lead as Mario Ferraro scored his fourth goal of the year.  In the third, Florida go on the board as Eetu Luostarinen netted his fifth of the year but then Barclay Goodrow’s fourth of the year with an empty net goal gave the Sharks the 4-1 win over the Panthers.

Minnesota Wild v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 730p ET

  • In Toronto, the Maple Leafs hosted the Wild and in the first Vladimir Tarasenko’s power play goal, his 10th goal of the year, put Minnesota up 1-0 and then Ryan Hartman’s 14th of the year put the Wild up 2-0.  Then, Toronto got on the board when John Tavares scored a power play goal, his 18th goal of the year.  In the second, Minnesota went back up two when Marcus Foligno scored his fourth of the year and then Vladimir Tarasenko scored his second of the night as the Wild took the 4-1 lead.  Then, Marcus Foligno scored his second of the night with a power play goal as Minnesota took the 5-1 lead.  In the third, Nicholas Robertson scored his 11th as Toronto got within three and then Auston Matthews scored his 25th as the Maple Leafs got within two.  Then, Marcus Foligno completed the hat trick with an empty net goal as the Wild got the 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.

Philadelphia Flyers v. Vegas Golden Knights – 8p ET

  • In Vegas, the Golden Knights welcomed the Flyers back to Sin City and in the first Philadelphia went up 1-0 when Travis Konecny scored his 16th of the year.  In the second, Vegas tied the contest when Tomas Hertl scored his 20th with a power play goal.  In the third, Travis Konecny scored his second of the night with a shorthanded goal as the Flyers knocked off the Golden Knights 2-1.

Winnipeg Jets v. Chicago Blackhawks – 830p ET

  • In Chicago, the Blackhawks welcomed the Jets back to the Windy City for the first time this season. After a scoreless first, Chicago took the 1-0 lead as Jason Dickinson scored his sixth of the year.  In the third, Connor Bedard scored an empty netter, his 20th goal of the year, as the Blackhawks got the 2-0 win over the Jets
