News

  • Prior to the Boston Bruins game against the Seattle Kraken, the organization retired Zdeno Chara’s number 33 to the rafters at TD Garden.
    • Chara played with the Bruins from 2006-2020, accruing 481 points in 1023 games played before retiring following the 2021-22 season.
    • Chara was also inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last fall.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Montréal Canadiens v. Buffalo Sabres – 7p ET

  • In Buffalo, the Sabres hosted the Canadiens and in the first Montréal took the 1-0 lead when Cole Caufield got his 22nd but then Buffalo got on the board with Tage Thompson’s power play goal, his 23rd goal on the year.  Then, Josh Doan netted a power play goal of his own, his 15th goal of the year to give the Sabres the 2-1 lead but then the Canadiens tied the game with Ivan Demidov’s power play goal, his 11th goal of the year.  In the second, Montréal re-took the lead when Nick Suzuki went on to score a power play goal of his own, his 15th goal of the year but then Buffalo tied the game once more when Alex Tuch scored his 16th of the year.  In the third, Tage Thompson scored a pair of goals as the Sabres defeated the Canadiens 5-3.

Philadelphia Flyers v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET

  • In Pittsburgh, it would be the first meeting between the Keystone State rivals in the Steel City and in the first Justin Brazeau’s power play goal, his 13th goal of the year, put Pittsburgh up 1-0 and then Bryan Rust’s power play goal, his 17th goal of the year, gave the Pens the 2-0 lead.  In the second, Pittsburgh went up 3-0 as Egor Chinakhov got his sixth but then Philadelphia went on the board as Rodrigo Abols scored his third of the year.  Then, Pittsburgh re-took the three goal lead when Blake Lizotte scored his sixth of the year.  In the third, Sidney Crosby scored a power play goal, his 25th goal of the year, to put the Pens up 5-1 and then Connor Dewar’s ninth of the year gave Pittsburgh the 6-1 lead.  Then, Nick Seeler’s second of the year brought Philly within four and then Matvei Michkov scored his 10th of the year but Philadelphia would mount the needed comeback as they fell to the Penguins 6-3.

San Jose Sharks v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET

  • In Washington, the Capitals hosted the Sharks for the lone time on the year.  Following a scoreless first, Dylan Strome scored a power play goal, 11th of the year, to put Washington on the board but then Zack Ostapchuk scored his third of the year to put San Jose on the board.  Then, Collin Graf scored his 13th on the year as the Sharks took the 2-1 lead and then Pavol Regenda scored his seventh as San Jose went up 3-1.  In the third, Washington’s Ryan Leonard scored his 10th but the Sharks held on to down the Capitals 3-2.

Vancouver Canucks v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET

  • In Columbus, the Blue Jackets welcomed the Canucks for the lone time on the year and in the first, Columbus took the 1-0 lead when Charlie Coyle scored his 10th of the year with a Blue Jackets power play goal.  In the second, Kirill Marchenko scored his 17th to put Columbus up 2-0 and then Zach Werenski scored a power play goal, his 18th goal on the year, to give the Jackets the 3-0 lead.  Then, Vancouver got on the board with Brock Boeser’s power play goal, his 10th goal of the year.  In the third, Kent Johnson scored his fifth of the year as the Blue Jackets got the 4-1 win over the Canucks.

Seattle Kraken v. Boston Bruins – 8p ET

  • In Boston, the puck drop would be an hour after the original time due to the celebration that occurred before the game when Zdeno Chara’s number was retired.  In the first, Marat Khusnutdinov scored his 10th to put Boston up 1-0 and then Viktor Arvidsson scored his 10th as the Bruins went up 2-0.  Then, Chandler Stephenson scored his 12th with a power play goal as Seattle got on the board.  In the second, Mark Kastelic scored a shorthanded goal, his eighth goal of the year, to put Boston back up two but then Eeli Tolvanen’s power play goal, his ninth goal on the year, brought Seattle back within a goal.  In the third, David Pastrnak scored an empty net, power play goal, his 20th goal of the year, as the Bruins defeated the Kraken 4-2.

Winnipeg Jets v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET

  • In Minnesota, the Wild welcomed the Jets back to the State of Hockey and in the first Jonathan Toews’ power play goal, his seventh goal of the year, put Winnipeg up 1-0 and then Tanner Pearson scored his seventh to give the Jets the 2-0 lead.  Then, Josh Morrissey got his ninth of the year as Winnipeg went up 3-0.  In the second, Danila Yurov’s seventh of the year put Minnesota on the board but then Logan Stanley scored his eighth of the year as Winnipeg re-took the three goal lead.  Then, Gabriel Vilardi’s power play goal, his 19th goal of the year, gave the Jets the four goal lead and then Mark Scheifele netted his 23rd of the year as Winnipeg went up 6-1.  In the third, Minnesota’s Marcus Johansson netted his 13th of the year but Jets flew by the Wild 6-2.

Calgary Flames v. Chicago Blackhawks – 830p ET

  • In Chicago, the Blackhawks hosted the Flames and in the first Chicago took the 1-0 with Nick Foligno’s second of the year but then Yegor Sharangovich’s power play goal, his ninth of the year, tied the game.  Then, Mikael Backlund’s shorthanded goal, his 12th goal of the year, put Calgary in the lead.  After a scoreless second, Matt Coronato scored a late empty net goal, his 13th goal of the year, as the Flames got the 3-1 win over the Blackhawks.
