  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined Florida Panthers forward Anton Lundell.
    • Lundell was fined $5,000 for high sticking Montreal Canadiens forward Alexandre Texier on Thursday, Jan. 8th in Montreal.
    • The fine is the maximum allowed per the terms of the CBA.

Vancouver Goldeneyes v. Ottawa Charge – 7p ET (PWHL)

  • In Ottawa, The Charge would play host to the Vancouver Goldeneyes in PWHL action, and in the first period, Ronja Savolainen would score to give the Charge the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Anna Meixner would score to give the Charge the 2-0 lead, but Sophie Jacques would score to get the Goldeneyes on the board and back within one. Brianne Jenner would score an empty netter to give the Charge the two goal lead back, and while Michelle Karvinen would score her first career PWHL goal for Vancouver, but Rebecca Leslie’s empty netter would give the Charge the 4-2 victory over the Goldeneyes.

Washington Capitals v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET

  • In Chicago, the Washington Capitals would come to the Windy City to battle the Blackhawks who would get Connor Bedard back in the lineup, and in the first period, Anthony Beauvillier, Connor McMichael, and Ethen Frank would score to give the Capitals the 3-0 lead. In the second period, Oliver Moore would score on the powerplay to get the Blackhawks on the board and back within two, but Justin Sourdif would score to reclaim the three goal lead for the Capitals. Then in the third period, Alex Ovechkin would score his 916th career NHL goal to give the Capitals the 5-1 victory over the Blackhawks.

Los Angeles Kings v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET

  • In Winnipeg, the Jets would play host to the Los Angeles Kings as they look to get out of their slide, and in the first period, Vladislav Namestnikov and Cole Koepke would score to give the Jets the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Jonathan Toews would score to grow the Jets lead to three, but Quinton Byfield would score for the Kings to get them on the board and back within two. However, Mark Scheifele would score a pair of goals, including one on the powerplay, to give the Jets the 5-1 lead. After a scoreless third period, the Jets would go on to defeat the Kings 5-1.
