News

  • The NHL announced that they have named Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov First Star of the Week.
    • Sidney Crosby (PIT) and Auston Matthews (TOR) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.

  • The St. Louis Blues and F Alexey Toropchenko agreed to a two-year extension
    • The extension begins following the 2025-26 season and has a $2.5 million AAV.

  • The San Jose Sharks and F Alexander Wennberg agreed to a three year contract extension that begins following the 2025-26 season.
    • The extension is worth an AAV of $6.0 million.

  • The Philadelphia Flyers and F Christian Dvorak came to terms on a five year extension worth $25.75 million.
    • The extension has an AAV of $5.15 million and begins with the 2026-27 season.

  • At the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship , the medal games would be played.
    • Canada defeated Finland 6-3 to capture the Bronze Medal.
    • Sweden defeated Czechia 4-2 for the Gold Medal.

 

  • The PWHL announced that their Player of the Week honours went to Marie-Philip Poulin.
    • Poulin had her first back-to-back multi point games, as well as scoring a game-winning goal

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Utah Mammoth v. New York Rangers – 7p ET

  • In New York City, the Rangers hosted the Mammoth in the lone match-up in Manhattan for the year and following a scoreless first, New York went up 1-0 when Alexis Lafrenière scored his ninth on a Rangers power play but then Utah tied the game when Dylan Guenther scored his 21st of the season.  Then, Vincent Trocheck scored a power play goal of his own, his 10th goal of the year, as New York took the 2-1 lead.  In the third, Michael Carcone scored his eighth as Utah tied the game 2-2.  In overtime, Sean Durzi scored his second as the Mammoth defeat the Rangers 3-2.

Anaheim Ducks v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET

  • In Washington, the Capitals hosted the Ducks and in the first Anaheim went up 1-0 when Chris Kreider scored his 14th but Washington got a pair to take the lead when Justin Sourdif scored a pair of goals.  In the second, the Caps took the 3-1 lead when Ryan Leonard scored his ninth of the year and then Justin Sourdif completed the hat trick to put Washington up 4-1.  Then, Alex Ovechkin scored his 16th of the season as the Caps took the 5-1 lead but then Alex Killorn scored his third to bring Anaheim within three.  Then, Jacob Trouba scored his seventh as the Ducks came within two.  In the third, Beckett Sennecke netted his 14th as the Ducks came within a goal but John Carlson scored an empty netter as Washington went back up two.  Then, Alex Ovechkin scored his second of the night with an empty netter as the Capitals clipped the Ducks for the 7-4 win.

Detroit Red Wings v. Ottawa Senators – 730p ET

  • In Ottawa, the Senators hosted the Red Wings in a divisional match-up and in the first Detroit went up 1-0 when Andrew Copp got his sixth of the year and then Dylan Larkin scored a power play goal, his 22nd of the year, to put the Red Wings up 2-0.  Then, James van Riemsdyk scored his 11th as Detroit went up 3-0.  In the second, Claude Giroux scored his ninth to put Ottawa on the board and then Dylan Cozens scored a power play goal, his 12th goal of the year, as the Sens came within a goal.  Then, Lucas Raymond scored his 12th as Detroit went back up two.  In the third, Brady Tkachuk netted his seventh to bring Ottawa within a goal once more but then Michael Rasmussen scored his sixth on a shorthanded goal but the Red Wings held on to defeat the Senators 5-3.
