News

  • The Philadelphia Flyers announced that after further medical consultation and diagnostic testing, forward Tyson Foerster underwent successful surgery on his arm on Monday, Dec. 15th.
    • Foerster is expected to make a full recovery and will be out five months.

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins have been sold from Fenway Sports Group to the Hoffman family, a Chicago area investment group.
    • The sale is pending approval by the NHL’s Board of Governors

Montreal Victoire v. Toronto Sceptres – 630p ET – PWHL Takeover Tour – Halifax, NS

  • In the first game of the year on the PWHL Takeover Tour, Montréal and Toronto faced off in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  In the first, Anna Kjellbin scored her first career PWHL goal as the Sceptres got on the board and then Kaitlin Willoughby got her first career PWHL goal to even the score for Montréal at a goal a piece.  After a scoreless third and overtime session, the contest moved to the shootout where Montréal’s Marie-Philip Poulin scored the lone goal, thus giving the Victoire the 2-1 win over the Sceptres.

Los Angeles Kings v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET

  • In Florida, the Kings made the lone trip to South Florida to take on the Panthers and in the first, Joel Armia scored his eighth on the Los Angeles man-advantage to put the Kings up 1-0.  In the second, Anton Lundell’s 11th on the Panthers power play tied the game for Florida and then Carter Verhaeghe scored his 11th as the Panthers took the 2-1 lead.  In the third, Sam Bennett notched his 11th to put Florida up a pair but then Kevin Fiala netted his 12th but the Panthers held on to knock off the Kings 3-2.

 

Boston Fleet v. New York Sirens – 7p ET (PWHL)

  • In a PWHL contest in Newark, New Jersey, the Boston Fleet and New York Sirens faced off for the first time this season.  After a scoreless first, Boston’s Ella Huber scored her first career PWHL goal to put the Fleet up 1-0 on the power play and then Liz Schepers scored her first of the year as the Fleet got the 2-0 shutout victory over the Sirens following a scoreless third.

Utah Mammoth v. Detroit Red Wings – 730p ET

  • In Detroit, the Mammoth faced off against the Red Wings.  Following a scoreless first, Utah took the 1-0 lead when Clayton Keller netted his 11th and then the Mammoth took the 2-0 lead when Jack McBain scored his fourth.  In the third, Emmitt Finnie netted his eighth on the man-advantage to put Detroit on the board but then Dylan Gauthier scored his 16th as Utah re-took the two goal lead.  Then, Kevin Stenlund scored his third as Mammoth downed the Red Wings 4-1.

Winnipeg Jets v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET

  • In the Gateway City, the Blues hosted the Jets in a key divisional matchup and following a scoreless first Justin Faulk scored the lone goal in the contest in the second to give the Blues the 1-0 win over the Jets.

Carolina Hurricanes v. Nashville Predators – 8p ET

  • In Nashville, the Hurricanes faced off against the Predators and in the first Carolina took the 1-0 lead when Jackson Blake scored his ninth.  After a scoreless second, Carolina went up 2-0 when Sebastian Aho scored his 10th on the power play and then Seth Jarvis scored his 19th as the Canes went up 3-0.  Nashville then got on the board when Filip Forsberg scored his 15th but then Sebastian Aho scored his second of the night with an empty netter as the Hurricanes spun around the Predators for the 4-1 win.
