  • The Montreal Canadiens announced that they have re-signed defenseman Mike Matheson.
    • Matheson signed a five year deal that carries an AAV of $6 million per season.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Tampa Bay Lightning v. Detroit Red Wings – 12p ET

  • In Detroit, the Tampa Bay Lightning would come to town for a Black Friday noon matinee against the Red Wings, and in the first period, J.T. Compher would open the scoring for the Red Wings to take the 1-0 lead, but a powerplay goal by Darren Raddysh would tie the game at one for the Lightning. In the second period, Gage Gonclaves and Yanni Gourde would score to give the Lightning the 3-1 lead, but Michael Rasmussen would score to get the Red Wings back within one. Gourde would net his second of the period to reclaim the two goal lead for Tampa, but Dylan Larkin would score to get the Red Wings back within one again. Then in the third period, Jake Guentzel and Brandon Hagel (ENG) would score to give the Lightning the 6-3 victory.

New York Rangers v. Boston Bruins – 1p ET

  • In Boston for an Original Six matchup, the Bruins would play host to the New York Rangers, and in the first period, Artemi Panarin and Carson Soucy would score to give the Rangers the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Mika Zibanejad would score a pair of powerplay goals to grow the Rangers lead to 4. Then in the third period, Casey Mittelstadt and Morgan Geekie would score to get the Bruins back within two, but goals from Alexis Lafreniere (ENG) and Vladislav Gavrikov would give the Rangers the 6-2 victory over the Bruins.

Colorado Avalanche v. Minnesota Wild – 330p ET

  • In Minnesota, the Wild would play host to the Colorado Avalanche, and in the first period, Nathan MacKinnon would score to give the Avalanche the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Kirill Kaprizov would score a pair of goals to give the Wild the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period, Gabriel Landeskog would score to tie the game at two for the Avalanche to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, Matt Boldy would score the shootout winner to give the Wild the 3-2 victory over the Avalanche.

New Jersey Devils v. Buffalo Sabres – 4p ET

  • In Buffalo, the New Jersey Devils would come to town to face the Sabres, and in the first period, Nico Hischier would score to give the Devils the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Arseny Gritsyuk would net his 5th of the season to grow the Devils lead to two. Theni n the third period, Brendan Dillon, Paul Cotter, and Gritsyuk would score to give the Devils the 5-0 victory over the Sabres. Jake Allen would stop all 42 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Devils.

Calgary Flames v. Florida Panthers – 4p ET

  • In Florida, the Calgary Flames would pay a visit to the Panthers, and in the first period, Evan Rodrigues and Sam Bennett would score for the Panthers to take the 2-0 lead, but goals from Yan Kuznetsov and MacKenzie Weegar would tie the game at two for the Flames. In the second period, Morgan Frost would score on the powerplay and Nazem Kadri would score his 5th of the season to give the Flames the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period, Brad Marchand would net his 15th of the season for the Panthers, but Joel Farabee’s empty netter would give the Flames the 5-3 victory over the Panthers.

Philadelphia Flyers v. New York Islanders – 4p ET

  • On Long Island, the New York Islanders would play host to the Philadelphia Flyers, and in the first period, Tyson Foerster and Sean Couturier would score to give the Flyers the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Trevor Zegras would score on the powerplay to grow the Flyers lead to three, but goals from Emil Heineman, Matthew Schaefer, and Anders Lee (PPG) would tie the game at three for the Islanders. Then after a scoreless third period and five minute overtime, Travis Konecny would score the shootout winner to give the Flyers the 4-3 victory over the Islanders.

Minnesota Frost v. Seattle Torrent – 4p ET (PWHL)

  • In Seattle, the Torrent would play host to the Minnesota Frost for their inaugural home opener, and in the first period, Kelly Pannek would score to give the Frost the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Pannek would net her second of the game and Grace Zumwinkle would score on the powerplay to give the Frost the 3-0 victory over the Torrent. Nicole Hensley would stop all 30 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Frost.

Ottawa Senators v. St. Louis Blues – 4p ET

  • In St. Louis, the Ottawa Senators would come to town with their captain Brady Tkachuk returning from injury to faceoff with the Blues, and after a scoreless first period, Oskar Sundqvist would open the scoring for the Blues, but goals from Shane Pinto and Fabian Zetterlund would score to give the Senators the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period, David Perron would score for the Senators, but goals from Jordan Kyrou, Pavel Buchnevich, and Matthew Kessel would give the Blues the 4-2 victory over the Senators.

Montreal Canadiens v. Vegas Golden Knights – 4p ET

  • In Vegas, the Montreal Canadiens would come to town to face off with the Golden Knights, and in the first period, Zack Buldoc would score to give the Canadiens the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Cole Caufield would score to grow the Canadiens lead to 2. Then in the third period, Mark Stone would score for the Knights, but goals from Jake Evans and Juraj Slafkovsky (PPG) would give the Canadiens the 4-1 victory over the Golden Knights.

Los Angeles Kings v. Anaheim Ducks – 4p ET

  • In Anaheim for a Battle of Hollywood, the Ducks would play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period, Alex Laferriere would score to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Kevin Fiala would score for the Kings, but a powerplay goal from Chris Kreider and a tally from Olen Zellwegar would tie the game at two for the Ducks. Then in the third period, Alex Turcotte and Joel Edmundson would score to give the Kings the 4-2 lead, but goals from Pavel Mintyukov and Leo Carlsson would tie the game at 4 for the Ducks to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, it would be Troy Terry with the shootout winner to give the Ducks the 5-4 victory over the Kings.

Vancouver Canucks v. San Jose Sharks – 4p ET

  • In San Jose, the Sharks would play host to the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period, Brock Boeser would score to give the Canucks the 1-0 lead, but a powerplay goal from Will Smith would tie the game at one for the Sharks. Then in the second period, Elias Pettersson would score for the Canucks, but a powerplay goal by William Eklund and a tally from Adam Gaudette would give the Sharks the 3-2 victory over the Canucks.

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Washington Capitals – 5p ET

  • In Washington DC, the Toronto Maple Leafs would come to town to faceoff with the Capitals, and in the first period, Morgan Rielly would score to give the Leafs the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Matthew Knies would score to grow the Leafs lead to two, but Connor McMichael would score to get the Capitals on the board and back within one. Then in the third period, Anthony Beauvillier, Jakob Chychrun, and Tom Wilson (ENG) would score to give the Capitals the 4-2 comeback victory over the Maple Leafs.

Winnipeg Jets v. Carolina Hurricanes – 5p ET

  • In Carolina, the Hurricanes would play host to the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period, Seth Jarvis would score to give the Hurricanes the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Mark Scheifele would score to tie the game at one for the Jets. Then in the third period, Jordan Martinook and Alexander Nikishin would score and Jarvis would record a pair of goals to complete the hat trick to give the Hurricanes the 5-1 victory over the Jets.

Pittsburgh Penguins v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET

  • In Columbus for a Metro Division matchup, the Blue Jackets would play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period, Sidney Crosby would open the scoring for the Penguins, but Sean Monahan would score for the Jackets to tie the game at one. In the second period, Brendan Gaunce would score shorthanded and Zach Werenski would score to give the Jackets the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period, Bryan Rust would score and Crosby would net his second of the game to tie the game at 3 for the Penguins to force overtime. In the extra frame, Kris Letang would score to give the Penguins the 4-3 overtime victory over the Blue Jackets.

Nashville Predators v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET

  • In Chicago, the Blackhawks would don their new/old black alternate jerseys as they host the Nashville Predators, and in the first period, Ryan Donato would score to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Matthew Wood and Steven Stamkos would score to give the Predators the 2-1 lead, but Ryan Greene would score on the powerplay to tie the game at two for the Blackhawks. However, Luke Evangelista would score to give the Predators the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period, Teuvo Teravainen would score for the Blackhawks, but Ryan O’Reilly’s tally earlier in the period would give the Predators the 4-3 victory over the Blackhawks.

Utah Mammoth v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET

  • In Dallas, the Stars would sport their new 1999 inspired alternate jerseys as they host the Utah Mammoth, and in the first period, Logan Cooley and Kevin Rooney would score for the Mammoth for the 2-0 lead, but Roope Hintz would score on the powerplay to get the Stars on the board and back within one. Then in the second period, Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson would score for the Stars to take the 3-2 lead, but Jack McBain would score to tie the game at three for the Mammoth. However, late in the second period, Wyatt Johnston would score on the powerplay to give the Stars the 4-3 victory over the Mammoth.
