2025-26 Preview
Looking for Continued Growth
After falling short to Minnesota in the PWHL Championship, the Ottawa Charge look to build upon their strong 2024-25 season in 2025-26. However, just like every other team not in Seattle or Vancouver, the Charge took a very heavy hit with expansion and free agency. The Charge lost two forwards and a defender to Seattle, a forward, a defender, and goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer to Vancouver, and two defenders and a forward to free agency. When looking at who the Charge lost during the offseason, a lot of these players were key pieces for the run to the PWHL Championship series.
For the Charge, the one bright spot they have is goaltender Gwyneth Philips, who blossomed into a certifiable number one goaltender for the Charge. However, losing Maschmeyer is a blow for the Charge as she was a solid 1B option behind Philips. The Charge, like the rest of the Founding 6, will have a lot of new faces coming into the lineup, and they will hope they mesh and build chemistry quickly as they look to return to the PWHL Championship.
