  • In Toronto, the Maple Leafs played host to the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Jake McCabe and Oliver Ekman-Larsson would score to give the Leafs the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Michael McCarron and Erik Haula would score for the Predators to tie the score at 2, but goals from John Tavares and Bobby McCann would retake the two goal lead for the Leafs. Then in the third period, Roman Josi and Nick Prebix would score for the Predators, but a pair of goals from Auston Matthews and an empty netter by William Nylander would give the Maple Leafs the 7-4 victory over the Predators.

Edmonton Oilers v. New York Rangers – 7p ET

  • At Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers play host to the Edmonton Oilers as they look for first win at home this season. After a scoreless first period, Trent Frederic scored his first of the season to give the Oilers the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Adam Henrique scored on the empty net to give the Oilers the 2-0 victory over the Rangers. Stuart Skinner stopped all 30 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Oilers. The loss marked the third straight loss for the Rangers at home to start the season, and also marked 180 consecutive minutes that the Rangers have been unable to score a goal home this season too.

  • In the District of Columbia, the Washington Capitals played host to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and in the first period, Jake Guentzel would open the scoring for the Lightning to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Connor McMichael made an amazing, and shocking, pass that Aliaksei Protas scored on to tie the game at one for the Capitals. Then in the third period, Brayden Point scored to retake the lead for the Lightning while on the powerplay, but shortly after, the Capitals would strike on a powerplay of their own with Tom Wilson’s second of the season to tie the game at 2 and send the game to overtime.
