News

  • The Edmonton Oilers announced a pair of signings, starting with their captain.
    • The Oilers announced that they have signed forward Connor McDavid to a 2 year extension.
      • The contract carries an AAV of $12.5 million per season.

    • The Oilers also re-signed defenseman Jake Walman to a 7 year deal.
      • The contract carries an AAV of $7 million per season.

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Tampa Bay Lightning forward Scott Sabourin.
    • Sabourin has been suspended for four games for roughing Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad during an NHL preseason game on Saturday, October 4th.
    • Sabourin will forfeit $16,145.84 based on his average annual salary, per the terms of the CBA.
  • DoPS also suspended Lightning defenseman J.J. Moser.
    • Moser has been suspended for two games for boarding Panther forward Jesper Boqvist in the same preseason game on Saturday, October 4th.
    • Moser will forfeit $35,156.26 based on his average annual salary, per the terms of the CBA.
  • The NHL also fined the Tampa Bay Lightning and head coach Jon Cooper.
    • The League fined the Lightning $100,000 for their actions culminating in the events on October 4th.
    • Cooper was fined $25,000.
    • The fine money will go to the Club Fine Fund which will be used for charitable purposes.
  • The Boston Bruins announced that they will be retiring Zdeno Chara’s #33.
    • The ceremony will take place on January 15th, 2026 when the Bruins take on the Seattle Kraken.
