2025-26 Preview
Looking to Reclaim Glory
After another strong regular season, the Vegas Golden Knights failed to make it past the second round after winning the Stanley Cup in 2023. With the loss of key defenseman Alex Pietrangelo due to injury, the Knights traded defenseman Nicolas Hague to Nashville for defenseman Jeremy Lauzon and forward Colton Sissons. The Knights also signed Jaycob Megna and Dylan Coghlan to add additional depth to the blue line.
On offense, the Knights made some key moves. Along with acquiring Sissons, the Knights signed Cole Reinhart as a depth forward. However, the biggest move the Knights made was trading for Mitch Marner from Toronto. They had to give up Nicolas Roy to get Marner, but with Brandon Saad re-signing with the team and the trade for Sissons, Roy became expendable.
In goal the Knights will be sticking with Adin Hill as their number one, but instead of Ilya Samsonov, Akira Schmid will be the new backup.

Can Marner Go the Distance?
After spending the first nine years of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner agreed to a sign and trade to Vegas before he could hit the free agent market. After experiencing years of disappointment in the playoffs with the Leafs, Marner is coming to a Golden Knights team that is always looking to make it to the Stanley Cup Final. The Knights have proven that they are not afraid to make a big splash, and they have the results to show for it after winning the Stanley Cup in 2023 after picking up players like Alex Pietrangelo, Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, and Adin Hill leading up to the 2023 Cup run.
This will also be an opportunity for Marner to show that he can perform in big games, especially in Game 7’s and in elimination games, and that his failures in the playoffs with Toronto is more of a reflection on the Maple Leafs, and not of him.
