Can Demko Stay Healthy
For the Vancouver Canucks, the 2025-26 season they are hoping for good health for goaltender Thatcher Demko. For the past 3 seasons, Demko has missed time due to various injuries, especially during the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons, Demko missed significant time. When Demko is healthy he is a top caliber netminder that the Canucks can ride into the playoffs with. During the 2023-24 season, Demko went 35-14-2 with a 2.45 goals against average, .918 save percentage, and 5 shutouts in 51games played, and despite missing time due to injury too. That is the Demko the Canucks need to show up at training camp.

Can Pettersson Get Back to Form
For the Canucks, not only are they looking for a healthy Thatcher Demko this season, but they are also looking for star forward Elias Pettersson to be back at the top of his game after a very rough 2024-25 season that saw him embroiled in drama, rumors, and injuries. Last season marked on the second time in his career that Pettersson did not record 65 points or more as he recorded 15 goals and 30 assists for 45 points in 64 games played.
The one thing that many can view as a positive going into the 2025-26 season is that Pettersson has been able to take the entire offseason to take a breather, get healthy, and get ready for the upcoming season knowing that a lot of the drama that was at the forefront this past season is behind him, and that the 2025-26 season will act as a fresh start for him. Especially under new head coach Adam Foote.
