2025-26 Preview
Looking to be More Competitive
Going into the 2025-26 season, the San Jose Sharks look to become more competitive and get closer to the playoff bubble this season. During the offseason, general manager Mike Grier added a lot of new players to the roster. On offense, Grier added Jeff Skinner, Adam Gaudette, Philipp Kurashev, and Ryan Reaves. Each one adds a different element to the lineup for the Sharks. The biggest one is Ryan Reaves. While he isn’t expected to play a lot, his presence in the locker room will go a long way. The personality of Reaves alone is uplifting in the locker room, and that will be huge for the Sharks as they look to become more successful after several losing seasons.
On defense, the Sharks added Dmitry Orlov, John Klingberg, and Nick Leddy to bring more veteran experience and playoff experience to the backend. Then in net, the Sharks acquired goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to backup Yaroslav Askarov, who will be given to really the opportunity to prove that he is a number one goaltender in the NHL. For the Sharks, these moves will make them a much more competitive team this season.

Continue Developing
For the Sharks, the continued development of Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and Shakir Mukhamadullin will be a focus for the team as they are the future of the organization. Also, with the addition of Michael Misa as the 2nd overall pick of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Sharks have a very bright future ahead of them. The continued development of these young players will be pivotal to the success of not only of their individual careers, but for the Sharks future.
With the veterans that the Sharks have brought in to help with these young players, this has the makings of a very good season in San Jose.
