2025-26 Preview
Fresh Starts
For the New York Rangers, the 2025-26 season is being viewed as fresh start for the franchise as they enter their 100th anniversary season. Peter Laviolette’s contract as head coach expired, and in comes new head coach Mike Sullivan.
For the Rangers, Sullivan will bring in a fresh voice that demands results right away. While the roster is not as strong as it used to be previous seasons, Sullivan will make the Rangers a much more solid team, and will expect them to make the playoffs this season.
While making the playoffs is a reasonable goal, the Rangers most likely be a bubble team, but that won’t be a bad thing as it’ll be a massive improvement from last season.

More Moves Ahead?
General Manager Chris Drury has been retooling the Rangers the past year shipping off Kaapo Kakko, Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider, and K’Andre Miller, but could more moves be on the horizon?
Artemi Panarin is in the last year of his contract, and depending on how the Rangers are doing could become a potential trade target at the deadline. Also, forwards Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, and Alexis Lafreniere could also be potentially moved if Drury sees fit. If Trouba and Kreider can get moved while still having term on their deals, so can the others.
Drury has shown that he is being very aggressive after having an abysmal 2024-25 season, and more moves could happen if he sees fit.
