New Jersey Devils 11-19-5 27pts) @ Columbus Blue Jackets (16-14-6 38pts)
Game Recap:
After suffering a defeat last night against the league leading Washington Capitals, the New Jersey Devils are back at it tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Devils rookie goaltender Gilles Senn would be making his first National Hockey League start tonight. Unfortunately for the Devils, the same story of losing as it’s been so far this season continues. Oliver Bjorkstrand would score twice for the Jackets in the first period. However, Devils defenseman Will Butcher would wrist a shot from the left circle to get the Devils within one goal. After the first period, the Columbus Blue Jackets would lead the New Jersey Devils 2-1.
Unfortunately for the Devils, Butcher’s goal would be the only one they would score on the night. New Jersey as it’s been all season can’t seem to get much going offensively or play effectively on defense. Vladislav Gavrikov would score in the lone goal in the second period. Zach Werenski and Gustav Nyquist would add empty net goals in the third period for the Blue Jackets. Columbus went onto defeat the Devils by a final score of 2-1. New Jersey is back in action on Monday night at the Chicago Blackhawks before the league wide holiday break.
