On Thursday, the NHL released the full schedule for the 2026-27 season for all 32 teams.
For the 2026-27 regular-season schedule, it will feature 1,344 games as all teams will now play 84 games. The increase in games includes two additional divisional games per team.
For the Washington Capitals, they’ll open their season on the road when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, October 2nd. The Capitals will then faceoff with the Tampa Bay Lightning the next night for the Lightning’s home opener.
The Capitals home opener will take place on Wednesday, October 7th when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
