While everyone was distracted with all of the trades and preparation for the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft, a surprise announcement was released by Fanatics Fest NYC.
Fanatics Fest NYC announced at 3p ET on Friday that Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin will be appearing at the show on Saturday, July 18th to sign autographs, take photos, and appear on a podcast.
This is a very interesting development as Ovechkin generally does not come back to the United States this early in the summer and usually would not come back to Washington DC specifically until mid to late August to join group skates to prepare for training camp. So seeing this announcement has to lead to one thing and that is this could be where we see Ovechkin make his announcement for whether or not he is returning to the Capitals for his 22nd season.
