News

  • The NHL announced the finalists for the Jack Adams Award.
    • The finalists are Jon Cooper (TB), Dan Muse (PIT), and Lindy Ruff (BUF).

 

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen.
    • Rantanen was fined $5,000 for cross checking Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov on Thursday night during Game 6 of their first round series.
    • The fine is the maximum allowed per the terms of the CBA.

 

  • The St. Louis Blues announced that they have re-signed forward Dylan Holloway.
    • Holloway would sign a 5 year deal that’ll carry an AAV of $7.75 million per season.

 

  • The New Jersey Devils announced that they have decided to not renew the contracts of Dan MacKinnon and Chuck Fletcher.
    • MacKinnon was previously serving as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager.
    • Fletcher was serving as Senior Advisor to the President, Hockey Operations and General Manager.

 

  • In the PWHL, the PWHL Player Safety Committee announced that they have suspended Boston Fleet defender Rylind MacKinnon.
    • MacKinnon would be suspended for one game, and will miss Game 2 of the Fleet’s semifinal matchup against the Ottawa Charge, for an illegal check to the head of Charge forward Gabbie Hughes on Thursday night during Game 1.
    • MacKinnon was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for an illegal check to the head on opponent Gabbie Hughes at 15:32 of the first period.
    • In their review, the Player Safety Committee determined that MacKinnon made no attempt to play the puck when she delivered a high, forceful, and illegal body check that made her opponent’s head the main point of contact on a play where such head contact was avoidable.
    • MacKinnon has been previously fined $500 for her actions in an altercation on Mar. 27 and suspended one game for an illegal check to the head on Dec. 21, 2024, as a member of Toronto.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Tampa Bay Lightning v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET – Game 6

  • In Montreal, the Canadiens look to close out their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in front of a raucous home crowd, and after a scoreless 60 minutes of regulation hockey, this game would require overtime, and in the extra frame, Gage Goncalves would score 9:03 into the period to give the Lightning the 1-0 overtime victory over the Canadiens and tie the series at 3 games a piece to force a Game 7 on Sunday. Andrei Vasilevskiy would stop all 30 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Lightning and avoid elimination.

Buffalo Sabres v. Boston Bruins – 730p ET – Game 6

  • In Boston, the Bruins look to stave off elimination once again as they host the Buffalo Sabres, and in the first period, Alex Tuch and Mattias Samuelsson would score to give the Sabres the 2-0 lead. In the second period, David Pastrnak would score to get the Bruins on the board and back within one. Then in the third period, Zach Benson and Josh Norris (ENG) would score to give the Sabres the 4-1 victory over the Bruins to take the series 4-2 to advance to the second round where they will face either Tampa Bay or Montreal.
