Eberle’s Double OT Tally Extends Series

New York Islanders v. Tampa Bay Lightning
TB Leads 3-1
Game 5

Game Recap

Coming into Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals the New York Islanders look to stay alive against the Tampa Bay Lightning who look to advance to face the Dallas Stars in the Stanley Cup Final. In the first period both teams would trade powerplays, but it would be the Islanders striking on theirs as Ryan Pulock would score with a rocket to give the Islanders the 1-0 lead.

In the second period Victor Hedman would score four minutes into the period to tie the game at one, and then later in the period it would look like the Lightning would take the lead, but the goal would be overturned after a coach’s challenge for offsides and keep the game tied at one.

Then in the third period both teams would stay off of the scoreboard to force overtime, and in the first overtime period the Lightning would start the period with 2:37 of powerplay time, but were unable to capitalize as the game would go into double overtime.

In double overtime it would be the Islanders as Jordan Eberle would score to keep the Islanders alive and force Game 6 with the 2-1 victory.
