NWHL Recap – 1/26/2020 – Boston Pride v. Minnesota Whitecaps

Boston Pride (19-1-0 38pts) v. Minnesota Whitecaps (13-4-2 28pts)

 

Game Recap:

In the second game of their weekend series in Minnesota, the Whitecaps look to give the Boston Pride their second loss of the season before going into the All Star Break. In the first period the Pride would take the early charge as McKenna Brand would score her 17th of the season to give the Pride the 1-0 lead. The Pride however would get themselves into penalty trouble, but on both powerplay opportunities the Whitecaps would be unable to capitalize to tie the game at one as the Pride took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

 

In the second period the Whitecaps would gain another powerplay to start the period, but once again the Pride would keep the Whitecaps off the board, but that wouldn’t last as Allie Thunstrom would net her 18th of the season to tie the game at one midway through the period. The Whitecaps would gain another powerplay, but after having it killed by the Pride Mary Parker would net her 12th of the season to retake the lead for the Pride as they entered the second intermission with the 2-1 lead.

 

Then in the third period Whitecaps would be blanked once again on the powerplay by the Pride, but while the Pride would be on their first powerplay opportunity of the game it would be Thunstrom scoring shorthanded for the Whitecaps to tie the game at two. However, the tie would not last long as Lexi Bender would strike on the powerplay to retake the lead. Then with 15 seconds left in the game Christina Putigna would score the empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory to give the Pride their 20th win of the season.
