Analysis:
This game was putrid for the Capitals. They played little to no urgency and they let Florida control the tempo in this game. Also doesn’t help that Jakub Vrana takes another offensive zone penalty to start the game. The Capitals got a great drive from Lars Eller that resulted in John Carlson’s goal, but after that Florida dominated once again.
Need to Do:
The Capitals need to get their game back on track, and they should pull Braden Holtby and put in Pheonix Copley to help with that. This isn’t on Holtby, but it sends a loud message to the team. Also the Capitals need to play with urgency. Like our good freind Ted Starkey has been saying for a while now:
Caps are going to have to get used to getting the A games from their opponents this year.

Analysis:
This was a much better period for the Capitals. They out shot the Panthers 16-6, and dominated throughout the period. The only problem with this period was the trail of penalties to end the period. Also good line shuffling by head coach Todd Reirdon, and pulling Holtby sent the message that was needed.
Need to Do:
The Capitals need to keep up the pressure in the Panthers zone and they need to kill off this 5 on 3 that they’ve put themselves into for the second time in a very short period of time.
Third Period:
Panthers Penalty – 7:38 – Vincent Trocheck 2 minutes for Roughing
Capitals Penalty – 8:29 – TJ Oshie 2 minutes for High Sticking

Analysis:
This was a wild one at home before going on their Western Canada trip, which saw the Capitals pick up a point in a game that one could say they didn’t deserve to even make it to overtime with the way the first period went. However, Todd Reirdon did a good job of sparking his team and rally back against the Panthers.
