Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps
Pittsburgh Penguins v. Washington Capitals – 3p ET
- In Washington, Sidney Crosby would re-enter the lineup for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they complete their weekend series with Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals, and after a scoreless first period, Trevor van Riemsdyk would score after jamming the puck past Stuart Skinner to give the Capitals the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Connor McMichael would score on a breakaway and then an empty netter to give the Capitals the 3-0 victory over the Penguins to keep their playoff hopes alive. Logan Thompson would stop all 24 shots faced to earn his second shutout in three games for the Capitals.
Montréal Canadiens v. New York Islanders – 6p ET
- On Long Island, the Montreal Canadiens would come to town to battle the New York Islanders, and after a scoreless first period, Nick Suzuki, Ivan Demidov (PPG), and Alex Newhook would score to give the Canadiens the 3-0 lead. Then in the third period, Casey Cizikas would score for the Islanders, but Zachary Bolduc would score to give the Canadiens the 4-1 victory over the Islanders. With the loss, the Islanders would be eliminated from playoff contention.
Boston Bruins v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 6p ET
- In Columbus playing for their playoff lives, the Blue Jackets would play host to the Boston Bruins, and in the first period, Mason Marchment would open the scoring for the Jackets while Sean Kuraly would score for the Bruins for the 1-1 tie. In the second period, Henri Jokiharju would score to give the Bruins the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period, Adam Fantilli would score for the Jackets to tie the game at two, but Mark Kastelic would score his 10th of the season to give the Bruins the 3-2 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Ottawa Senators v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
- In New Jersey, the Devils would play host to the Ottawa Senators, and in the first period, Nico Hischier and Connor Brown (SHG) would score to give the Devils the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Michael Amadio, Shane Pinto (PPG), and Fabian Zetterlund would score to give the Senators the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period, Dawson Mercer would score his 20th of the season while shorthanded to tie the game at three for the Devils to force overtime. In the extra frame, Hischier would score his second of the game while on the powerplay to give the Devils the 4-3 overtime victory over the Senators.
Vancouver Canucks v. Anaheim Ducks – 8p ET
- In Anaheim, the Vancouver Canucks would come to town to faceoff with the Ducks, and in the first period, Cutter Gauthier would open the scoring for the Ducks, but goals from Curtis Douglas and Jake DeBrusk (PPG) would give the Canucks the 2-1 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Brock Boeser would score shorthanded to give the Canucks the 3-1 lead, but Gauthier’s second of the game while on the powerplay for his 40th of the season and Leo Carlsson would score to tie the game at three for the Ducks to force overtime. In the extra frame, Marco Rossi would score on the powerplay to give the Canucks the 4-3 overtime victory over the Ducks.
