Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps
Detroit Red Wings v. New York Rangers – 1230p ET
- At Madison Square Garden, the Detroit Red Wings would visit the New York Rangers for an Original Six matchup, and in the first period, Jaroslav Chmelar would open the scoring for the Rangers to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Gabe Perreault would score to grow the Rangers lead to two. Then in the third period, Perreault would score on the powerplay and then again with an empty netter for him to complete the hat trick to give the Rangers the eventual 4-1 victory over the Red Wings. David Perron would have the lone goal for the Wings which was scored very late in regulation.

Minnesota Wild v. Ottawa Senators – 1p ET
- In Ottawa with playoff hopes still alive, the Senators would play host to the Minnesota Wild, and in the first period, Jonas Brodin would open the scoring and Ryan Hartman would score to give the Wild the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Hartman would strike again for his second of the game to give the Wild the three goal lead. Then in the third period, Drake Batherson would score for the Senators, but Jake Middleton’s goal earlier in the period would give the Wild the 4-1 victory over the Senators.
Vancouver Goldeneyes v. Minnesota Frost – 2p ET (PWHL)
- In Minnesota for some PWHL action, the Vancouver Goldeneyes would come to the Twin Cities to battle the Frost, and in the first period, Sarah Nurse would open the scorong for the Goldeneyes to take the 1-0 lead, but goals from Grace Zumwinkle and Katy Knoll would give the Frost the 2-1 lead. However, Tereza Vanišová would score and Sophie Jacques would strike on the powerplay to give the Goldeneyes the 3-2 lead. In the second period Jenn Gardiner would score to grow the Goldeneyes lead to 2, but goals from Mae Batherson and Taylor Heise (PP) would tie the game at 2 for the Frost. Then in the third period, Kelly Pannek would score a pair of powerplay goals to give the Frost the 6-4 lead, and while Izzy Daniel would score late for the Goldeneyes, the Frost would hold on for the 6-5 victory over the Goldeneyes to clinch their spot in the PWHL Playoffs.
Colorado Avalanche v. Dallas Stars – 3p ET
- In Dallas for an afternoon matinee, the Stars would play host to the Colorado Avalanche, and after a scoreless forst and second periods, Martin Necas would score the game winner and Nathan MacKinnon would score the empty netter to give the Avalanche the 2-0 victory over the Stars. Scott Wedgewood would stop all 17 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Avalanche.
Boston Bruins v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 5p ET
- In Tampa Bay, the Boston Bruins would come to town to faceoff with the Lightning, and after a scoreless first period, Casey Mittelstadt would score to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Tampa would get goals from Charle-Edouard D’Astous, Darren Raddysh, and Nikita Kucherov (ENG) to give the Lightning the 3-1 victory over the Bruins.
Florida Panthers v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 5p ET
- In Pittsburgh, the Penguins would play host to the Florida Panthers, and in the first period Noel Acciari and Erik Karlsson (PPG) would open the scoring for the Penguins to take the 2-0 lead, but A.J. Greer and Seth Jones would score to tie the game at 2 for the Panthers. In the second period, the Penguins offense would explode as Anthony Mantha, Elmer Soderblom, Rickard Rakell (PPG), and Ryan Shea would score along with a pair of goals from Evgeni Malkin to give the Penguins the commanding 8-2 lead. Then in the third period, Malkin would score once again to complete the hat trick, and while the Panthers would get goals from Noah Gregor and Macki Samoskevich, the Panthers would fall to the Penguins 9-4 and become officially eliminated from the playoffs.
Montreal Canadiens v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
- In New Jersey, the Devils would play host to the Montréal Canadiens, and in the first period, Jayden Struble would open the scoring for the Canadiens to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Ivan Demidov would score on the powerplay and Lane Hutson would score to give the Canadiens the 3-0 lead, but goals from Dawson Mercer and Jack Hughes (SHG) would get the Devils on the board and back within one. Then in the third period, Tino Meier would score to tie the game at 3 and force overtime for the Devils. After a scoreless extra five minutes of hockey, it would be Oliver Kapanen with the shootout winner to give the Canadiens the 4-3 victory over the Devils.
Buffalo Sabres v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET
- In Washington, the Capitals would look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they host the Buffalo Sabres, and in the first period, the Capitals would get three quick goals from Jakob Chychrun, Dylan Strome, and Connor McMichael to chase Alex Lyon (3 goals on 5 shots) from the game and force the Sabres to bring in Colton Ellis, but after the goalie change the Sabres would strike back with goals from Rasmus Dahlin and Beck Malenstyn to cut the Capitals lead to one. In the second period, Aliaksei Protas would score to reclaim the two goal lead for the Capitals. Then in the third period, Ryan Leonard and Tom Wilson (SHG) would score to give the Capitals the 6-2 victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.
New York Islanders v. Carolina Hurricanes – 7p ET
- In Carolina, the New York Islanders would come to town to faceoff with the Hurricanes, and in the first period, Marc Gatcomb would open the scoring for the Islanders, but Seth Jarvis would score to tie the game at one for the Hurricanes. In the second period, Max Shabanov would score for the Islanders, but Jackson Blake and Sebastian Aho (SHG) would gove the Hurricanes the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period, Jarvis would net his second of the game for Hurricanes, and while Anders Lee would score late for the Islanders, the Hurricanes would hold on to defeat the Islanders 4-3.
Winnipeg Jets v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET
- In Columbus, the Blue Jackets would play host to the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period, Ivan Provorov would score for the Jackets to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Kyle Connor would score to tie the game at one for the Jets. Then, in the third period, Connor would net his second of the game to give the Jets the 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Utah Mammoth v. Vancouver Canucks – 7p ET
- In Vancouver, the Utah Mammoth would come to town to face the Canucks, and in the first period, Linus Karlsson would open the scoring for the Canucks, but goals from Kailer Yamamoto and Clayton Keller would give the Mammoth the 2-1 lead. In the second period, Karlsson would net his second of the game for the Canucks, but Keller’s second of the game, and a tally from Dylan Guenther would give the Mammoth the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period, the Canucks would get powerplay goals from Jake DeBrusk and Marco Rossi, but goals from Lawson Crouse and Liam O’Brien and an empty netter for Keller to complete the hat trick and give the Mammoth the 7-4 victory over the Canucks.

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Los Angeles Kings – 7p ET
- In Los Angeles, the Toronto Maple Leafs would continue their west coast trip with a visit to the Kings for a California edition of Hockey Night in Canada, and in the first period, Matthew Knies and Steven Lorentz (SHG) would score to give the Leafs the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Quinton Byfield and Adrian Kempe would score for the Kings to tie the game at two, but John Tavares would score on the powerplay to retake the lead for the Leafs. Artemi Panarin would score for the Kings to tie the game back up, but Easton Cowan’s powerplay goal would give the Leafs the 4-3 lead. Then in the third period, Kempe would net his second of the game and goals from Samuel Helenius and Alex Laferriere would give the Kings the 6-4 lead, but goals from Nicholas Robertson and Knies would tie the game six for the Leafs to force overtime. In the extra frame, Byfield would score his second of the game and 2oth of the season to give the Kings the 7-6 overtime victory over the Maple Leafs.
Seattle Torrent v. New York Sirens – 8p ET (PWHL)
- At Madison Square Garden, the New York Sirens would break the US attendance record for women’s hockey as they host the Seattle Torrent, and after a scoreless first period, Alex Carpenter would net her 10th of the season to give the Torrent the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Sarah Fillier would score to tie the game at one for the Sirens to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, it would be Maja Mylan Persson with the shootout winner to give the Sirens the 2-1 victory over the Torrent in the first PWHL game in Madison Square Garden history.
