News

  • In the PWHL, supplemental discipline was announced following four reviews over two games by the League’s Player Safety Committee.
    • Minnesota Frost’s F Peyton Anderson has been suspended for one game due to an illegal body check that occurred on March 15th’s contest against the New York Sirens
    • Minnesota F Britta Curl-Salemme was fined $250 due to a cross checking against New York on March 15.
    • Montréal Victoire D Maggie Flaherty was also fined $250 due to a illegal body check that was not called in their contest against the Boston Fleet on March 15.
    • Boston Fleet F Loren Gabel was also fined $250 due to her actions following the hit from Flaherty in front of Boston’s bench.
  • Additionally in the PWHL, it was announced that the PWHL Walter Cup finals will be broadcast in the United States on ION television.

  • The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced that Carolina Hurricanes F Seth Jarvis was fined $5,000 for high-sticking Columbus Blue Jackets F Conor Garland.
    • The money collected from the fine will go into the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Ottawa Charge v. Minnesota Frost – 7p ET (PWHL)

  • In Minnesota, the Charge and Frost faced off for the final time on the season.  In the first, Taylor Heise scored her seventh to put Minnesota up 1-0 and then the Frost went up 2-0 as Grace Zumwinkle scored her ninth of the year.  Kelly Pannek then netted her 10th of the year as the Frost took the 3-0 lead and then Kaitlyn O’Donohue scored her first career PWHL goal as Minnesota went up 4-0.  In the second, Kelly Pannek scored her second of the year for Minnesota.  With no goals in the third period, the Frost went on to shut out the Charge 5-0.

 

New Jersey Devils v. New York Rangers – 7p ET

  • In New York, the Rangers hosted the Devils and in the first New York took the 1-0 when Vladislav Gavrikov netted his 14th but then New Jersey tied the game when Nico Hischier scored his 24th with a power play goal.  Then, Arsney Gritsyuk scored his 13th as the Devils took the 2-1 lead.  In the second, Mika Zibanejad scored his 28th as the Blueshirts tied the game but then Connor Brown netted a power play goal, his 13th, as the Devils re-took the lead.  In the third, Timo Meier struck with his 19th as New Jersey took the 4-2 lead and then Conor Sheary scored his third as New York got within a goal.  Jack Hughes went on to score his 18th as the Devs went up 5-3 and then Jesper Bratt went on score his 16th as the Devils doubled up the Rangers 6-3.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins v. Carolina Hurricanes – 7p ET

  • In Raleigh, the Hurricanes hosted the Penguins and in the first, Carolina took the 1-0 lead when Jordan Martinook scored a shorthanded goal, his 10th goal of the year.  In the second, Pittsburgh tied the contest when Sidney Crosby netted his 28th of the year but then the Canes took the 2-1 lead when Jackson Blake scored his 20th of the season.  In the third, Erik Karlsson scored his eighth of the year with a power play goal to tie the game for Pittsburgh but then Taylor Hall scored his 15th as Carolina took the 3-2 lead.  Bryan Rust then tied the game for the Pens for the third time with his 26th of the year but then Logan Stankoven’s 14th on the Canes power play put Carolina back in the lead.  Erik Karlsson then scored his second of the night to tie the game for the fourth time and then Pittsburgh took the lead with Ben Kindel’s 17th of the year.  Then, it would be Carolina’s turn to tie the game when K’Andre Miller scored his fifth to make it a 5-5 game.  In overtime, Sean Walker scored his seventh as the Hurricanes got the 6-5 win over the Penguins.

 

Ottawa Senators v. Washington Capitals – 730p ET

  • In Washington, it would be a battle of Canadian and United States capital cities as the Senators and Capitals faced off.  Following a scoreless first period, Washington took the 1-0 lead when Alex Ovechkin scored his 25th of the year and then Tom Wilson scored his 25th to put the Capitals up 2-0.  In the third, Tim Stützle’s 31st of the season put Ottawa on the board but then Aliaksei Protas scored his 22nd on an empty net to put Washington up 3-1.  Then, Cole Hutson scored his first career NHL goal with an empty netter as the Capitals defeated the Senators 4-1.
