- The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust.
- Rust was suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser on Sunday, January 25th.
- Rust will forfeit $80,078.13 based on his average annual salary per the CBA.
- The Colorado Avalanche announced that they have re-signed defenseman Sam Malinski.
- Malinski would sign a 4-year deal with an AAV of $4.75 million per season.
- The Vancouver Canucks announced that goaltender Thatcher Demko will require surgery.
- Demko will have hip surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 regular season.
- The New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils would make a trade.
- The Islanders acquired forward Ondrej Palat, a 2026 3rd Rd Pick, and a 2027 6th Rd Pick.
- The Devils acquired forward Maxim Tsyplakov.

- In Boston, the Bruins would play host to the Nashville Predators, and in the first period, Hampus Lindholm would score to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead. Buffalo Sabres v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET
- In Toronto, the Maple Leafs would honor the 50th anniversary of Darryl Sittler’s NHL record setting 10 point game as they host the Buffalo Sabres, and in the first period, Matthew Knies and Auston Matthews would score for the Leafs, but goals from Rasmus Dahlin, Josh Doan (PPG), and Tage Thompson would give the Sabres the 3-2 lead. In the second period, Bobby McMann would score to tie the game at three for the Leafs, but Dahlin’s second of the game would retake the lead for the Sabres. Then in the third period, Alex Tuch and Jack Quinn would score to give the Sabres the 6-3 lead, and while Max Domi would score for the Leafs, Dahlin would score on the empty net to give the Sabres the 7-4 victory over the Maple Leafs.
Vegas Golden Knights v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
- In Montreal, the Vegas Golden Knights would come to town to battle the Canadiens, and in the first period, Pavel Dorofeyev would score to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Phillip Danault and Cole Caufield would score to give the Canadiens the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period, Dorofeyev would score his second of the game to tie the game at two for the Knights to force overtime. In the extra frame, Jake Evans would score to give the Canadiens the 3-2 overtime victory over the Golden Knights.
Los Angeles Kings v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET
- In Detroit, the Red Wings would play host to the Los Angeles Kings, and after a scoreless first period, Samuel Helenius would score to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period, Alex DeBrincat would score for the Wings, but goals from Andrei Kuzmenko (PPG) and Corey Perry (ENG) would give the Kings the 3-1 victory over the Red Wings.
Utah Mammoth v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
- In Florida Panthers, the Utah Mammoth would come to town to battle the Panthers, and in the first period, Nick Schmaltz would score shorthanded to give the Mammoth the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Sandis Vilmanis would score his first career NHL goal to tie the game at one for the Panthers, but Sean Durzi would score to retake the lead for the Mammoth. However, Cole Schwindt would score to tie the game at 2 for the Panthers. Then in the third period, while Carter Verhaeghe would score for the Panthers, but Mikhail Sergachev and Barrett Hayton (ENG) would score for the Mammoth to defeat the Panthers 4-3.

Winnipeg Jets v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
- In New Jersey, the Devils would be making deals while hosting the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period, Mark Scheifele would score to give the Jets the 1-0 lead, but Lenni Hameenaho would score to tie the game at one for the Devils. In the second period, Gabriel Vilardi would score his 20th of the season and Cole Koepke and Nino Niederreiter would score to give the Jets the 4-1 lead. Jesper Bratt would score late on the powerplay to get the Devils back within two. Then in the third period, Nico Hischier would score for the Devils, but it would be too little, too late as the Jets would hold on for the 4-3 victory over the Devils.
Dallas Stars v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis, the Dallas Stars would come to town to battle the Blues in a Central Division matchup, and after a scoreless first period, Matt Duchene would score a pair of goals, including his first one being on the powerplay, and Roope Hintz would score a powerplay tally to give the Stars the 3-0 lead. Then in the third period, Robby Fabbri would score his first of the season and Brayden Schenn would score a pair of goals to tie the game at three for the Blues, but a late tally from Thomas Harley would give the Stars the 4-3 victory over the Blues.
Chicago Blackhawks v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
- In Minnesota for another Central Division matchup, the Wild would play host to the Chicago Blackhawks, and in the first period, Teuvo Teravainen would score his 10th of the season and Ryan Donato would score to give the Blackhawks the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Ilya Mikheyev would score to grow Chicago’s lead to three, but Yakov Trenin would score for the Wild to get on the board and back within two. Then in the third period, Joel Eriksson Ek and Jared Spurgeon would score to tie the game at three for the Wild to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, it would be Kirill Kaprizov with the shootout winner for the Wild to complete the 4-3 comeback victory over the Blackhawks.
