Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps
Anaheim Ducks v. New Jersey Devils – 1230p ET
- In New Jersey, the battered and bruised Devils would play host to the Anaheim Ducks for an early afternoon matinee, and in the first period, Troy Terry would score to give the Ducks the 1-0 lead, but Stefan Noesen would score to tie the game at one for the Devils. In the second period, Paul Cotter would net his fifth of the season and Cody Glass would score to give the Devils the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period, Connor Brown would score an empty netter to give the Devils the 4-1 victory over the Ducks.
Ottawa Senators v. Minnesota Wild – 2p ET
- In Minnesota for an afternoon matinee, the new look Wild would play host to the Ottawa Senators, and after a scoreless first period, Tyler Pitlick would score his first of the season and Ryan Hartman would score on the powerplay to give the Wild the 2-0 lead, but Tim Stutzle would score his 15th of the season while on the powerplay to get the Senators on the board and back within one. Then in the third period, Dylan Cozens would strike on the powerplay for his 10th of the season to tie the game at two for the Senators, but Joel Eriksson Ek would score with 27 seconds left in regulation to give the Wild the 3-2 victory over the Senators.
San Jose Sharks v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 3p ET
- In Pittsburgh, the San Jose Sharks would come to town to faceoff with the Penguins, and in the first period, Tyler Toffoli would score to give the Sharks the 1-0 lead, but Sidney Crosby would score to tie the game at one for the Penguins. In the second period, Rutger McGroarty would score his first of the season, Kevin Hayes would score, and Bryan Rust would score on the powerplay to give the Penguins the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period, Anthony Mantha would score his 10th of the season while on the powerplay to give the Penguins the 5-1 lead. John Klingberg would score on the powerplay and both William Eklund and Macklin Celebrini would score to get the Sharks back within one, and then with the goalie pulled, Toffoli would net his second of the game to tie the game at 5 for the Sharks to force overtime. In the extra frame, Klingberg would net his second of the game to complete the comeback and give the Sharks the 6-5 overtime victory over the Penguins.
Tampa Bay Lightning v. New York Islanders – 330p ET
- On Long Island, the New York Islanders would play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and in the first period, Matthew Schaefer would score while on the powerplay and Calum Ritchie would score to give the Islanders the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Darren Raddysh would score on the powerplay to get the Lightning on the board and back within one. Then in the third period, J.J. Moser would score to tie the game at 2 for the Lightning to force overtime. After a scoreless 5 minutes of extra hockey, it would be Emil Heineman with the shootout winner to give the Islanders the 3-2 victory over the Lightning.
Edmonton Oilers v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET
- In Toronto for Hockey Night in Canada, Tristan Jarry would make his Edmonton Oilers debut as they visit the Maple Leafs, and in the first period, Connor McDavid would score for the Oilers and Easton Cowan would score for the Leafs for the 1-1 tie. In the second period, Oliver Ekman-Larsson would score to give the Leafs the 2-1 lead, but goals from McDavid and Darnell Nurse would give the Oilers the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period, Vasily Podkolzin would score a pair of goals and Zach Hyman would score to give the Oilers the 6-2 lead. Steven Lorentz would score for Toronto, but the Oilers would hold on for the 6-3 victory over the Maple Leafs.
Montreal Canadiens v. New York Rangers – 7p ET
- At Madison Square Garden, it would be an Original Six matchup as the Rangers play host to the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period, Zachary Bolduc, Arber Xhekaj, and Jake Evans would score to give the Canadiens the 3-0 lead, but Noah Laba would score on the powerplay and Artemi Panarin would score on the penalty shot to get the Rangers back within one. In the second period, Josh Anderson would score to reclaim the two goal lead for the Canadiens, but Will Cuyle and J.T. Miller would score to tie the game at 4 for the Rangers. Then after a scoreless third period, Miller would net his second of the game while on the powerplay to give the Rangers the 5-4 victory over the Canadiens.
Carolina Hurricanes v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET
- In Philadelphia, the Carolina Hurricanes would come to town to battle the Flyers, and in the first period, Bobby Brink and Trevor Zegras would score to give the Flyers the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Nikolaj Ehlers and Alexander Nikishin would score to tie the game at 2 for the Hurricanes. Then in the third period, both teams would trade goals as Seth Jarvis would score for the Hurricanes and Carl Grundstrom would score for the Flyers to send the game to overtime tied at three. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, Jackson Blake would score in the shootout to give the Hurricanes the 4-3 victory over the Flyers.
Vegas Golden Knights v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET
- In Columbus, the Blue Jackets would play host to the Vegas Golden Knights, and in the first period, Charlie Coyle scored to give the Jackets the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Pavel Dorofeyev would score on the powerplay to tie the game at one for the Knights. Then in the third period, Yegor Chinakhov would score to give the Jackets the 2-1 lead, but Ben Hutton and Brayden McNabb would score to give the Golden Knights the 3-2 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Washington Capitals v. Winnipeg Jets – 7p ET
- In Winnipeg, Connor Hellebuyck would return to the crease for the Jets as they play host to the Washington Capitals, and in the first period, Logan Stanley and Morgan Barron would both score their fifth goals of the season to give the Jets the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Alex Iafallo and Gabriel Vilardi (PPG) would score to grow the Jets lead to 4. Then in the third period, Vilardi would net his second of the game to give the Jets the 5-0 lead. Jakob Chychrun would score late on the powerplay to get the Capitals on the board, but the Jets would go on to defeat the Capitals 5-1.
Detroit Red Wings v. Chicago Blackhawks – 8p ET
- In Chicago, the Blackhawks would play host to the Detroit Red Wings for an Original Six matchup, and in the first period, Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane would score to give the Wings the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Emmitt Finnie would score to grow the Wings lead to three. Then in the third period, DeBrincat would score his second of the game when he got the empty netter to give the Red Wings the 4-0 victory over the Blackhawks. John Gibson would stop all 26 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Red Wings.
Florida Panthers v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET
- In Dallas, the Florida Panthers would come to town to battle the stars, and after a scoreless first period, Anton Lundell, Sam Bennett, and Brad Marchand (PPG) would score to give the Panthers the 3-0 lead. Then in the third period, Marchand would net his second of the game when he scored on the empty net to give the Panthers the 4-0 victory over the Stars. Sergei Bobrovsky would stop all 15 shots faced to earn the shutout for the Panthers.
