- The NHL unveiled the Winter Classic jerseys for the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers.
- The NHL Winter Classic uniforms will be worn when the Panthers face off against the Rangers on January 2, 2026 at loanDepot Park in Miami.
- As the Rangers continue to celebrate their 100th season, the team is extending this commemorative theme to the NHL Winter Classic with a special uniform that complements their Centennial jersey worn throughout the year-long celebration. The NHL Winter Classic design honors the franchise’s traditional light jersey while introducing distinctive elements including bold oversized stripes that echo the Centennial uniform’s colors, “New York” featured on the front chest, and the apple logo featured on the team’s Centennial jersey. Matching equipment completes the cohesive look, tying together both commemorative uniforms as the Rangers honor a century of hockey.

- The Panthers’ NHL Winter Classic uniform pays homage to Florida’s hockey history and local military ties. The jersey features a vintage take on the original “leaping panther” crest, executed with felt and chain stitching that evoke hockey’s traditional craftsmanship. The same craftsmanship is apparent in the shoulder patch of the jersey. The jersey’s design, which includes decorative stitching with chevrons, is inspired in part by South Florida’s military heritage. Lastly, the jersey’s rear hem loop features the silhouette of the Panthers’ rat, honoring the team’s beloved and long-standing tradition of throwing rats onto the ice after home victories.

Edmonton Oilers v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET
- In Washington, the Capitals welcomed the Oilers back for their lone match-up in the Nations Capital and in the first Aliaksei Protas got his sixth to put Washington in the early lead. The Caps then went up 2-0 when Alex Ovechkin got his seventh of the year but then Edmonton got on the board when Darnell Nurse netted his fourth of the year. Ryan Leonard then got his fourth of the year to put Washington back up two but Darnell Nurse got his second of the period to bring the Oilers within a goal. In the second, Ryan Leonard netted his second of the game to put the Caps back up a pair, In the third, David Tomasek struck with his second to bring Edmonton within a goal once more but then Anthony Beauvillier scored his fourth to make it a two goal lead for Washington once again. Leon Draisaitl then struck a power play goal, his 14th goal of the year, as Edmonton continued to inch closer to Washington’s lead but then Tom Wilson scored a pair of empty net goals as the Capitals struck down the Oilers 7-4.
Calgary Flames v. Buffalo Sabres – 730p ET
- In Buffalo, the Sabres hosted the Flames and in the first Calgary took the 1-0 lead when Rasmus Andersson got his fifth of the year and then Joel Farabee got his third of the year to put the Flames up 2-0. In the second, Mattias Samuelsson got his fourth as Buffalo got within a goal and then Tage Thompson’s 10th evened the score for the Sabres. In the third, Morgan Frost’s fourth put the Flames back in the lead and then Mikael Backlund’s fourth put Calgary back up two. Then, Joel Farabee got his second of the night as Calgary went up three and then Matt Coronato scored his seventh as the Flames burned out the Sabres 6-2.
