Tampa Bay Lightning v. Florida Panthers – 5p ET
- In Florida, the Tampa Bay Lighting and the Panthers would renew their hostilities from the preseason, and in the first period, Emil Lilleberg would score to give the Lightning the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Brad Marchand would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at one for the Panthers. Then in the third period, Jack Finley and Zemgus Girgensons would score to give the Lightning the 3-1 victory over the Panthers.
Anaheim Ducks v. Minnesota Wild – 6p ET
- In Minnesota, the Wild would play host to the Anaheim Ducks, and after a scoreless first period, Marcus Johansson would score his seventh of the season to give the Wild the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Matt Boldy would score an empty netter to give the Wild the 2-0 victory over the Ducks. Jesper Wallstedt would stop all 28 shots faced to earn the shut out for the Wild.
Boston Bruins v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
- In Montreal for a hotly contested Original Six matchup, the Canadiens would battle their long time rival Boston Bruins, and in the first period Marat Khusnutdinov would open the scoring for the Bruins, but a tally from Jake Evans while shorthanded would tie the game at one for the Canadiens. Then in the second period, Mason Lohrei and Viktor Arvidsson (PPG) would score to give the Bruins the 3-1 lead, but Cole Caufield would score to get the Canadiens back within one. However, the Bruins would hold on for the 3-2 victory over the Canadiens after a scoreless third period.
Los Angeles Kings v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET
- In Ottawa for a very tightly contested matchup, the Los Angeles Kings would come to town to battle the Senators, and in the first period, Alex Laferriere would score the lone goal of the game to give the Kings the 1-0 victory over the Senators. Anton Forsberg would make 17 saves to earn the shut out for the Kings.
Buffalo Sabres v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p ET
- In Detroit, the Red Wings would play host to the Buffalo Sabres, and in the first period, Patrick Kane would open the scoring for the Red Wings, but a tally from Alex Tuch would tie the game at one for the Sabres. In the second period, Dylan Larkin would score and Alex DeBrincat would net a pair of goals to give the Wings the 4-1 lead, but late in the period, Josh Doan would score to get the Sabres back within two. Then in the third period, Tage Thompson and Ryan McLeod (PPG) would score to tie the game at 4 for the Sabres to force overtime. In the extra frame Mattias Samuelsson would score to complete the comeback as the Sabres would defeat the Red Wings 5-4.
New Jersey Devils v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET
- In Washington, the Capitals would face the visiting New Jersey Devils in a Metropolitan Division battle, and in the first period, Arseny Gritsyuk would strike on the powerplay and Luke Hughes would score his first of the season to give the Devils the 2-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period, Connor McMichael and Alex Ovechkin would score to tie the game at two for the Capitals to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey, Simon Nemec would score the shootout winner to give the Devils the 3-2 victory over the Capitals.
Edmonton Oilers v. Carolina Hurricanes – 7p ET
- In Carolina, Zach Hyman would make his regular season debut as the Edmonton Oilers would come to town to face the Hurricanes, and in the first period, Jack Roslovic and Connor McDavid (PPG) would score to give the Oilers the 2-0 lead, but Eric Robinson would score to get the Hurricanes on the board and back within one. In the second period, Nikolaj Ehlers would score to tie the game at two for the Hurricanes. Then in the third period, McDavid would net his second of the game for the Oilers and Jordan Staal would score for the Hurricanes to send this game to overtime tied at three. In the extra frame, Leon Draisaitl would score 19 seconds into overtime to give the Oilers the 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes.
New York Rangers v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET
- In Columbus for a Metro Division matchup, the New York Rangers would visit the Blue Jackets, and after a scoreless first period, Mika Zibanejad would score on the powerplay for the Rangers to take the 1-0 lead, but Dmitri Voronkov would also score on the powerplay to tie the game at one for the Jackets. After a scoreless third period and overtime frame, J.T. Miller would score the shootout winner to give the Rangers the 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.
Toronto Maple Leafs v. Chicago Blackhawks – 7p ET
- In Chicago for an Original Six matchup, the Blackhawks would play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period, Ryan Greene would score for the Blackhawks and Nicolas Robertson would score for the Leafs for the 1-1 tie. In the second period, Morgan Rielly would score to give the Leafs the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period, Teuvo Teravainen and Colton Dach would score to give the Blackhawks the 3-2 victory over the Maple Leafs.
Vegas Golden Knight v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis, the Vegas Golden Knights would take on the Blues, and in the first period, Brandon Saad would score his first of the season and Braeden Bowman would score his first career NHL goal while on the powerplay to give the Knights the 2-0 lead. In the second period, Noah Hanafin would score his first of the season to grow the Knights lead to three. Then in the third period, Tomas Hertl would score to grow the Knights lead to four, but Philip Broberg would score for the Blues to get them on the board. However, it would be too little, too late for the Blues as the Golden Knights would defeat them 4-1.
Philadelphia Flyers v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET
- In Dallas, the Philadelphia Flyers would visit the Stars, and in the first period, Lian Bichsel would score his first of the season to give the Stars the 1-0 lead. In the second period, Jason Robertson would score a pair of goals to grow the Stars lead to three. Then in the third period, Robertson would score on the powerplay to complete the hat trick, but Christian Dvorak would score to get the Flyers on the board. However, Tyler Seguin would score to give the Stars the 5-1 victory over the Flyers.
