2025-26 Preview

A New Voice

After failing to make the playoffs in 2025, the Boston Fleet made a change behind the bench as Kris Sparre would replace Courtney Kessel as head coach. Sparre, who spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL, will be making his debut as a head coach when the 2025-26 season begins. Sparre will be making his debut with a team that will also be no longer with their captain Hilary Knight who went to Seattle Torrent during the expansion draft.

Sparre’s first priority will be to set a new tone for the Fleet. The rookie coach will look to guide the Fleet, who lost 4 players total to Seattle and 2 to Vancouver due to expansion, back to the playoffs and back to the PWHL Championship round when they were one win away from becoming the inaugural champions. The additions of forwards Chloe Arard and Liz Schepers and defender Zoe Boyd will add a boost to the lineup and add some leadership to the locker room.
