News
- In the PWHL, the Minnesota Frost announced that they will have a Walter Cup Champions jersey for the 2025-26 season.
- The jersey features The Walter Cup patch, which includes two stars commemorating the team’s back-to-back championships won during the PWHL’s inaugural season in 2024 followed by the 2024-25 campaign.
- Drawing inspiration from the Walter Cup itself, the lettering incorporates a silver stitch-down detail, while the numbers are outlined in silver – a nod to the trophy’s distinctive shine and prestige.
- The jerseys, which will be worn into January, will be complemented by an updated uniform look featuring purple helmets, gloves and pants to be worn at home and on the road during the upcoming season.
 
- The Colorado Avalanche signed forward Martin Necas to an extension.
- Necas would sign an 8-year deal that will carry an AAV of $11.5 million per season.
 
- The Philadelphia Flyers and Dallas Stars would make a trade.
- The Flyers acquired defenseman Christian Kyrou.
- The Stars acquired forward Samu Tuomaala.

Buffalo Sabres v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET
- In Boston, the Bruins welcomed the Sabres back to Beantown and in the first Boston took the 1-0 lead when Morgan Geekie scored on the man-advantage, his ninth goal on the year, and then David Pastrnak scored his seventh to put the B’s up 2-0. In the second, Buffalo got on the board when Rasmus Dahlin scored on the power play, his first goal on the year, but then Mark Kastelic netted his third on the year to give Boston the two goal lead back. In the third, Buffalo got a pair when Josh Doan and Alex Tuch scored to make it a 3-3 game. In overtime, Marat Khusnutdinov scored his first on the year as the Bruins defeat the Sabres 4-3.
Calgary Flames v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET
- In Ottawa, the Senators hosted the Flames for the lone time this season and in the first Calgary took the 1-0 lead when Yegor Sharangovich scored on the power play, his second on the year, but then Lars Eller responded with a shorthanded goal to tie the contest. Matt Coronato struck with his third, another Calgary man-advantage goal, to put the Flames back in the lead. After a scoreless second, Artem Zub got his second on the year but then Nazem Kadri responded with his third. Jake Sanderson then scored his third to make this a 3-3 game. After the scoreless overtime, Tim Stützle scored the game winner in the shootout to give the Senators the 4-3 win over the Flames.
Dallas Stars v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
- In Tampa, the Lightning hosted the Stars and following a scoreless first, Brandon Hagel scored on the man-advantage, his third goal of the season, to put Tampa up 1-0. In the third, Adam Erne scored his first of the year to tie the game for Dallas. In Overtime, Anthony Cirelli scored his sixth as the Lightning left the Stars in a daze with the 2-1 win.
Nashville Predators v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET
- In Philadelphia, the Flyers welcomed the Predators for their lone visit of the year and after a scoreless first, the Flyers took the 1-0 lead when Trevor Zegras scored his third and then Jamie Drysdale got his first on the year to put Philly up 2-0. Then, Nashville responded when Matthew Wood scored his first of the year. In the third, Philadelphia re-took the two goal lead when Trevor Zegras scored a power play goal, his second of the year, and then Travis Konecny scored his third of the year on an empty net as the Flyers beat the Predators 4-1.
New York Islanders v. Carolina Hurricanes – 730p ET
- In Carolina, the Hurricanes hosted the Islanders and in the first Bradly Nadeau scored his first career NHL goal to put the Canes up 1-0 and then Mike Reilly scored his first of the year, a shorthanded goal, to put Carolina up 2-0. Jordan Martinook then scored his second of the year as the Hurricanes took the 3-0 but then New York got on the board when Matthew Schafer scored on the power play, his third goal of the year. Following a scoreless second, Jackson Blake scored his third of the year to put Carolina back up three but then Simon Holmstrom scored his third of the year to bring the Isles within two once more. Andrei Svechnikov then scored his second to put Carolina back up three and then Logan Stankoven scored his fourth of the year as the Hurricanes blow past the Islanders 6-2.
Vancouver Canucks v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis, the Blues welcomed the Canucks back to the Gateway City and in the first the Blues went up 1-0 when Dylan Holloway scored his second of the year. However, Vancouver evened the score when Kiefer Sherwood scored on the power play, good for his seventh goal on the year. In the second, St. Louis re-took the lead when Jimmy Snuggerud scored on the power play, his fourth goal om the year, but Kiefer Sherwood scored his second of the night to tie the game. In the third, Kiefer Sherwood completed the hat trick to give Vancouver its first lead of the night but then Pius Suter scored on the man-advantage as St. Louis tied the game. After a scoreless overtime, Jake DeBrusk scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Canucks the 4-3 win over the Blues.
Pittsburgh Penguins v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
- In Minnesota, the Wild looked to freeze out the Penguins and in the first Kirill Kaprizov scored his seventh of the year to give Minnesota the 1-0 lead. In the second, Ryan Shea scored his second of the year to put Pittsburgh on the board. In the third, the Pens took the lead when Bryan Rust scored his fourth of the year and then a Ben Kindel power play goal put Pittsburgh up two. Then, Anthony Mantha scored an empty net goal as the Penguins score four answered to beat the Wild 4-1.
Chicago Blackhawks v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET
- In Winnipeg, the Jets hosted the Blackhawks and in the first Vladislav Namestnikov scored on the power play to give Winnipeg the 1-0 lead but then Teuvo Teravainen scored his second on the year to even the score for Chicago. Gabriel Vilardi then scored his third of the year as the Jets re-took the lead. In the second, Mark Scheifele scored his ninth of the year to put Winnipeg up two and then Gabriel Vilardi scored his second on the night to put the Jets up three. In the third, Josh Morrisey netted his first of the year to give Winnipeg a four goal lead but then Chicago got a pair when Alex Vlasic got his first and then Andre Burakovsky scored his third to cut the Winnipeg lead to two. Kyle Connor then shut the door with this sixth as the Jets double up the Blackhawks 6-3.
