  • The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have fined Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand.
    • Marchand was fined $5,000 for his actions against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, October 18th.
    • The fine is the maximum allowed per the CBA.

Jersey Tracking and Mini Recaps

Vancouver Canucks v. Washington Capitals – 1230p ET

  • In Washington, the Capitals would play host to the Vancouver Canucks for an early afternoon matinee, and in the first period, Elias Pettersson (#40) would net his first of the season 59 seconds into the game to give the Canucks the 1-0 lead. Then late in the period, Tyler Myers would score during a very chaotic sequence in the Capitals crease, and after taking an ill-advised coach’s challenge, the Canucks would then strike on the powerplay with a Kiefer Sherwood tally to give the Canucks the 3-0 lead. In the second period, Teddy Blueger would score to grow the Canucks lead to four, but later in the period while on the powerplay, Ryan Leonard would score to get the Capitals on the board. Then in the third period, Jakob Chychrun and John Carlson would score to get the Capitals back within one, but the Canucks would hold them at bay to take the 4-3 victory.

Edmonton Oilers v. Detroit Red Wings – 3p ET

  • In Detroit, the Red Wings would play host to the Edmonton Oilers, and in the first period, Dylan Larkin would net a pair of goals and Emmitt Finnie would score his first career NHL goal fort he Red Wings, but a tally from Noah Philip would get the Oilers on the board as the Wings took the 3-1 lead into the second intermission. Then in the third period, Leon Draisaitl would score to get the Oilers back within one, but an empty netter from Finnie would give the Red Wings the 4-2 victory over the Oilers, and extend their winning streak to five games.

Anaheim Ducks v. Chicago Blackhawks – 7p ET

  • In Chicago, the Anaheim Ducks would fly into town to take on the Blackhawks, and after a scoreless two periods, Frank Nazar would score to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead, but Mason McTavish would score on the powerplay to tie the game at one for the Ducks. Then in the extra frame, Ryan Donato would score to give the Blackhawks the 2-1 overtime victory over the Ducks.

Boston Bruins v. Utah Mammoth – 7p ET

  • In Utah, the Boston Bruins would continue their road trip with a visit to the Mammoth, and in the first period, Logan Cooley would strike first on the powerplay to give the Mammoth the 1-0 lead, but the Bruins would respond with a powerplay goal of their own with a David Pastrnak tally to tie the game at one. In the second period, Pastrnak would net his second of the game to take the lead for the Bruins, but Clayton Keller’s tally would tie the game at two for the Mammoth. Then in the third period, Dylan Guenther would score to give the Mammoth the 3-2 victory over the Bruins.
