2025-26 Preview
What Impact will Toews Have?
After missing the last two seasons due to dealing with the effects of Long-COVID, forward Jonathan Toews is making his return to the NHL. Toews signed a one year deal with the Winnipeg Jets, allowing Toews the opportunity to play closer to home. Toews is joining a Jets team that won the President’s Trophy last season, but struggled in the playoffs. The Jets will look to Toews, a 3-time Stanley Cup winner with Chicago, to bring his championship winning leadership to their locker room.
Also, the Jets are hoping that Toews’s time away from the game won’t have a negative impact on his game. Being out for two years dealing with something that countless number of people are dealing with in Long-COVID, which is still on a case by case basis depending on the individual and how long it affects them, will definitely knock Toews back a step or two. However, Toews is the consummate pro, and will look to make an impact right away for the Jets. Just like how Gabriel Landeskog did for Colorado after missing 3 years due to knee injuries.

What Connor Hellebuyck will Show Up?
During the 2024-25 regular season, Connor Hellebuyck was a Hart, Vezina, and Jennings award winner, but come the playoffs, he struggled. And when Hellebuyck struggled, the Jets struggled too. Going into the 2025-26 season, the Jets will most likely make the playoffs again this year, but when they do, they need the all-star and award winning goaltender to show up. If not, then the Jets have some questions in goal when it pertains to Hellebuyck.
