Today the Washington Capitals announced their second round of roster cuts as they whittle their roster down before their third preseason game on Sunday.
The moves began Friday afternoon when defenseman Calle Rosen and forward Spencer Smallman were placed on waivers by the Capitals for the purpose of loaning to Hershey.

Then on Saturday morning, the Capitals assigned forwards Ryan Hofer, Ludwig Persson, Matt Strome, and Alexander Suzdalev, defenseman Aaron Ness, and goaltender Mitch Gibson to Hershey. Strome, Ness, and Gibson are all signed to AHL contracts.
The Capitals also announced that forward Zac Funk would continue his injury rehabilitation in Hershey.
Lastly, the Capitals reassigned forward Lynden Lakovic (Moose Jaw Warriors – WHL) back to his junior team.
The Capitals have on-ice sessions today before they visit the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.
